Cavs have offense and defense to work on, so there is a lot to learn. Going to take November and December to bring it together. Just watch the improvement and wait until January.

the last two lebron/hayward plays says everything in a nutshell.
blatt has to come up with a better plan. he has two of the top five efficiency players and neither is being used.

6 assists for the entire game for the entire team? How would anyone expect to win a game like that?

There were actually some positives. The defense actually started to look better in the 2nd half, a lot of deflections and steals, Marion made some plays on D, even K Love finally started putting his hands up when guys were attacking him. In the 3rd quarter the Cavs held the Jazz to 17pts on <40% shooting.

The problem became to start the 4th, Blatt sat down Lebron and Love, and had Kyrie and Waiters out there with bench guys and the momentum of the game immediately flipped from us up like 3pts to down ~7pts. Then Blatt rushes Lebron back out there and plays him 40+ minutes again but the Jazz had already gotten momentum back.

Blatt has to get better with his rotations and there is no excuse when you have guys like Love and Lebron who have had incredible efficiency their entire careers to be so ineffective on offense. He has to get guys to execute and if they don't, bench em until the message comes across.

Guys the issue is Kyrie

The way he sets the offense is ball dominant. He dribbles in a way that takes the movement of others out of the positive completely When Tony Parker sets SA's offense he is dribbling to pass even on a drive When Kyrie dribbles he looks to score and only pass when he's covered

On defense watch when he gets beat He stands there looking pissed and does not help out

I think as stupid as Waiters looks right now he needs to be given a chance at the 1

Seriously just to see a weaker point guard at the 1 maybe a gain overall and an improvement due to the fact everyone else will gain by getting the ball in an advantage to the team overall

Kyrie scored over 30 last night had a great game but it was a loss if you tracked the minutes the ball was in his hands it was way too long

Jeez. This start was unexpected. Our defense is flat out terrible. I mean, I knew this team was going to be challenged defensively before the season started, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. Also, Kevin Love looks like a glorified Spencer Hawes out there. I said it before the trade went down and I stand by it, trading Wiggins for Love will be a big mistake IMO. That is behind us now though. Also, what is up with Lebron? He just looks completely disinterested out there. Is he injured or what? It seems like he isn't able to get by defenders anymore and he is constantly settling for pull up jumpers. Since when was that his play style? The good news is that it is only the beginning of the season and there is plenty of time to figure things out. The bad news is that, If things don't work out, we have absolutely no flexibility with the big 3 core given Lebron and Kevin's contract situations which makes me uneasy.

As an outsider I'm not too worried about the Cavs. The issue isn't talent or "lack of big game experience BS" it's just about figuring out roles. Irving is just too talented to not be able to learn how to give it up more. Love and Lebron on pick and rolls look unstoppable. Cavs will be just fine

Has a point guard ever played more than 30 minutes in a game and had 0 assists?

One day soon, and I hope before tomorrow, Dion Waiters will be on the bench indefinitely.

That is all.

Waiters barely played tonight, took only 4 shots, and had one of the team's 6 assists. Yet the team lost to Utah.

What I meant to say was, Waiters needs to come off the bench indefinitely.
Yesterday Waiters did not play and I saw great progress and unity with the team. Does this mean that he needs to be traded? No, but I will be watching as everyone should.

I agree that Waiters is better off the bench given the way this team is constructed. But this team has been Jekyll and Hyde when he's been in the game and out of the game. Things were even looking dicey last night in the first half and Kyrie, LBJ, Love played a ton of minutes - again. The schedule has been kind to the Cavs so far but they aren't going to be able to keep that up and have much left for the postseason. As our local paper decided to go nuclear on Waiters and his trade value, I wouldn't even think about trading him now.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.
