Is Nene, and Beal playing tonight?

Looks like Val, and Amir might be out for us. I was hoping to see 2 healthy teams go at it.

Nene playing. Beal is out for a few more weeks.

Amir Johnson has been a bit of a Wizards killer in the past. Not wishing anything bad on the dude, but honestly I hope he's not playing tonight.

We really need at least one of our starting bigs. Preferably both....

I mean, you can get by with a Jonas, Patterson, Hans big man rotation. At least those guys can play basketball (even though defense is way worse without Amir). But, if both starters are gone and you have to start playing guys like Chuck Hayes, and Stiesma big minutes you are gonna have some problems.

No, I understand. It kinda sucks for the Raptors to have their guys out all playing the same positions. You can get by with bench guys starting, but when it's time to sub and you have your 5th and 6th or 7th big playing meaningful minutes, that hurts the effort.

Toronto's saving grace may be its really good backcourt. The Wiz have had trouble clamping down on D on opponents' guards, even scrubs have been having career nights. If I were the Raptors, I'd try to make this a 100% up and down game featuring both teams' smalls. And plan to try and outscore Washington.

Good luck tonight.

Good luck guys hoping my raps win but will be fun nonetheless. Honestly its great to see two teams that were in the bottom for so many years are now on top. Felt like yesterday we were trying to out tank each other now we competing for the top, gotta love it.

One of the few teams we actually have a positive winning % against. 2-0 last year on the road.

Having said that, without possibly Amirs rim protection first in the L among players with > 3 FGAs at the rim, should be a high scoring game. Take the over.

It would be funny if Ray Allen decided to come to the Wizards so he could play against those uniforms again.

Funny for hands, but I'm not sure about old Allen as a Wizard. We are already the 2nd oldest team in NBA, right?

The winner will be tied for the lead of the Eastern Conference(the Bulls are playing the Sixers, so they will be 5-1).

SportsFan9 wrote:Anyways, there hasn't been any confirmation that JV and Amir are back I believe, so I'm hoping they are. Looking forward to this though, should be a good game. Good luck guys.

It should be a good game, and it wouldn't be suprising to see the teams neck-and-neck for play-off positioning the whole season.

I think the winner gets a little more boost than just a single win. There may be some
symbolic value as well as continued momentum. Then there is the all important
confidence factor.

What bothers me is that we'll probably continue with Gooden and Seraphin as our reserve bigs which is going to start costing us. Blair and Humphries are just waiting for their names to be called and yet they're getting beaten out by two guys who can't rebound or defend worth a damn.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if we gave Hump or Blair a chance to match up w/ Amir. I certainly don't trust Seraphin to keep him off the boards.

I doubt Blair will play. Randy likes Seraphin better. Humphries clearly should have taken more time to get healthy.

I expect Seraphin will play around 15 minutes.

Remember Witt likes to put guys in/out of the rotation for a series of games in a stretch.
IDK if it will happen tonight but at some point we should expect to see both Blair and Hump
(who I think is still re-cooping and will see regular minutes in the fullness of time) as a regular
part of the rotation. And it probably doesn't matter how well or poorly Gooden/KSera are playing.

Relax and remember it's a long season. When the playoffs start, then we can really whine
in earnest about who is/isn't playing. Gooden has really helped in a couple games. KS in one
game. Neither has cost us any games (yet). Maybe that changes tonight. We'll see.

Looking for a markedly better rebounding effort tonight. Getting out boarded by this team is unacceptable.

There is - it's called watching them play the Wizards this season.

Wittman must have been worried about bench scoring when deciding on Gooden/Seraphin as first bigs off the bench. Gooden can score and is a pretty good rebounder. KSera can get hot as a scorer, but is a lousy rebounder (gets the board only 33.3% our of his rebounding opportunities per today's WPost; comparatively Gooden grabs the rebound 63.3.% of the time.) I hope WIttman frees Blair from the bench so he can give Kevin a rebounding clinic.

Toronto had the Wizards number last year, but the Bullets do have Raptor-slayer Paul Pierce on the team this year

If I'm not mistaken, Toronto favored by 4 tonight.
