the wing situation around the league is a weird one. too many teams that have one or two wings too many (us, Bucks, Nuggets, Suns, T-Wolves, etc.), title contenders (Clippers, Cavaliers) that don't have the necessary wing depth and yet this currently is the worst 2-guard generation.

Felt a little bad to see Hendo not get in the game but its a business and all he had to do was develop a 3 point shot and he hasn't so now his minutes go to Hariston.

More important issue is not whether or not hes going to play, which hes not, but were going to have a guy making 6 million next season to basically rot on the bench. Thats a problem.

he has a player option after this year. if we arent playing him, he will opt out. hendo isnt the type to ride the bench just to collect a paycheck. plus, he is definitely good enough to get another decent contract as a free agent. if ben gordon can get 4 mil, hendo should be fine. he'd be an good addition for many playoff teams in need of a wing defender. in fact, hendo would be perfect for the cavs playing between kyrie, lebron and love. they dont need more 3pt shooters, they need another wing who can defend and wont hog the ball.

I know he has a player option, but eh, I think its a toss up if he opts out. Hopefully he does. Absolutely ridiculous how he hasn't been able to add onto his game over the years. Richard Hamilton struggled to hit threes but he made up for him moving off the ball and off of screens.

LOS ANGELES Charlotte Hornets coach Steve Clifford has a lot of shooting guards and small forwards. At least one of them will have to sit each game.

Friday, with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist returning from injury, that was Gerald Henderson, a captain and the longest-tenured player on this roster.

Henderson hadn’t had a “Did Not Play – Coach’s Decision” next to his name on a box score since April 2010, his rookie season playing for Larry Brown, a coach famous for not using rookies.

This was entirely different. Henderson is still working his way back from missing the preseason with a hamstring strain. Rookie P.J. Hairston offers something Henderson doesn’t – a constant 3-point threat that spreads defenses.

“All I know is when he’s out there, it opens up for everyone else,” Clifford said of the spacing Hairston’s shooting creates. “It opens up because they’re so scared of him taking a shot.”

An example: During the first quarter Friday, Hairston completed a relatively rare 4-point play – hitting a 3-pointer and drawing a foul for the free throw. He played only 12 minutes Friday behind starter Lance Stephenson and backup Gary Neal, but he left an impression on Clifford.

“I’m gonna play P.J,” Clifford said following the 122-119 double-overtime victory.

Clifford spoke with Henderson before the game, preparing him for the possibility he might not play Friday.

“Gerald was terrific – professional and team-first,” Clifford said.

“It’s not forever. He missed all eight preseason games and he hasn’t gotten his rhythm.”

Hairston, a late first-round pick out of North Carolina, has 3-point range and a quick release. Those are talents the Hornets need to spread defenses and create more room for center Al Jefferson to score in the post.

Henderson isn’t much of a 3-point shooter, but he brings other qualities to the position – defense, savvy and toughness.

Henderson is in the second season of a three-season contract that pays him $6 million annually.

Hendo got brought off the bench with Pargo and Biz with 2:41 left in the fourth. This is the guy that started every single game for us last season.

Harsh. Not saying I wish it were different, but that sucks for him.

It is fairly harsh. But his fifteen minutes of being an NBA starter got dragged out three years too long because of the team he was on. I don't feel bad for him at all. Now he can tell his grandkids that he averaged 15 points per game as an NBA starter when otherwise, who knows if he would have even stuck with any team.

Hendo, Biz, Marvin, AND our 2015 1st (top 15 protected) for Taj Gibson

(I think it would be good for both teams but what do I know)

Maybe a week ago Clifford stated that he'll make changes to the lineup to make room for P.J. Hairston to get some playing time, and 'MasterIchiro' quoted the tweet with "Rhymes with Nintendo" which meant 'Hendo' without saying it. Next thing we knew, Henderson received a DNP-CD that night and Hairston got his first regular season playing time, and it just kind of stuck
