FIRE THE SCOUTING DEPARTMENT

If our scouting department really had Hitchens as the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE in the middle of the 4th round, they should all be fired right now. Just get the Hell out of the building. Marqueston Huff, Carl Bradford, Daniel McCullers, Ethan Westbrooks, all still on the board, and we reach for this turd"

UK Cowboy
Draft Fail

This is gonna be a year long rant, so I am gonna post it here instead of on other threads. We may have some kids develop from this draft, but it doesn't change the fact that our approach to this draft's first three rounds was absurd. One of the deepest drafts in years, and with our first three picks, we netted one DE. I hated it then, and I hate it worse after watching that garbage last night. The trade up for Lawrence...if you are willing to walk away from the first three rounds with two players, why not give up a 1 and 2 to get the defensive guy you want in the first round? All during the draft, you heard over and over teams in the top 10 wanted to trade down. When Donald and Shazier came off, why not trade down in the first round, pick up say a 3rd, and take a Safety, or Hell, take freaking Lawrence since you had him graded a 1. Then spend your 3 picks in the next two rounds on D. And before any owls start saying ''who, who'', good grief, there were studs like Nix and Bradford coming off as late as the 3rd and 4th rounds. My point is, if you spend $100 million on Romo, you need to win now. We have a Super Bowl offense, which will do us no good with a garbage D like we have now

and one of my all time favorites from last May

"Ealy and Nix(or my guy Sutton) would be a Heck of a lot better than a slow, undersized DE that got sacks because BSU moved him around the DLine to match up against the weakest O lineman

"think he's exactly what his 40 time says he is, which is slow. He looks fast on tape because BSU plays 1 team per year that is worth a ****, and they move Lawrence around to find ''favorable matchups'', in other words, slow, scrub tackles. His 250'' rear won't find any ''favorable matchups'' in the NFL. When we play the Rams, maybe he can line up against Greg Robinson, who not only outweigh's him by 80 pounds, but can freaking outrun him. Unbelievable "

Hitchens has been really good this season and should only get better. He stuffed Gerhardt in the hole on forth down. Interesting options at LB for next yr. Hard for me not to see him playing somewhere. Carter played well yesterday too.

Street - don't know what to think. He made a real nice catch yesterday that was called back, but he still seems to be on a different page sometimes. He is getting more snaps though.

I didn't like the Lawrence pick either but I didn't harp on it nonstop after the draft was over.

B I N G O

being somewhat supportive was not an option in May
AND FROM THERE...........All the doom and gloom about what this defense was going to be.
FIVE WINS WAS THE HIGH WATER MARC

BUT NOW??????????

like I said....some people are vested in this being an ugly draft

"Except for ''hoping for the best'', there's nothing to be optimistic about. Jarntt goes on and on about being excited about our DLine depth, I just don't see it. They gave up what they did for Lawrence, they planned on him being a starter. When he finally gets back, there's no way he will be ready to contribute, at least not this year. Melton has missed the whole preseason, and you have to wonder, when Chicago gives up even more points than us last year, why would they let him go? Spencer is done. Crawford looks lost. And DL may be our strongest defensive unit. Pretty bleak"

Speaking of Melton, how good has he been lately??? That pressure he has been getting up the middle sure does screw up an offense. If he plays the rest of the year the way he has the last 3 games that makes us much stronger.

Wonder if Spencer due to health and Lawrence due to health and learning the D show some sign of looking a little faster after the bye or not.

I would say Melton has definitely played well enough to make things real interesting this off season. 9 mill is a tough pill to swallow, but it seems so hard to get a pass rush from the middle. Maybe we can renegotiate. Then again that's in the off season.

Melton has been a huge plus and seems to be playing himself back to his top form. QUICK first step. Crawford has been very good inside before he was dinged. Love Haden's effort...play after play. He knows he's working on borrowed time but he's a pleasure to watch playing a role.

Maybe it's the fan....but I think we're going to see a plus from Lawrence, not so sure about Spencer, but he appears to be somewhat steady against the run.

All in all....fun group to watch. Effort PLUS!
Thanks Rod

honestly I cant wait till we have the talent to let Spencer go.
Lawrence just got going as a rookie this year. So I don't really expect a ton from him this year. So I cant say anything bad about him.
As far as Melton, I agree with what Jarntt said on him.
Think he could be like another ex bear. Columbo. he paid off for us for years after a major injury.

With all that said drafting a stud on the D-line could be exciting next year.

I think it's a group thing. I know it's not a ton of sacks but all of these guys have contributed. Crawford, Melton have been the best probably but MCCLain , HAyden, and MIncey have been really solid. Now LAwrence , Selvie , Spencer get going. Can't 4 get the the CRawford from LOndon. Got a few guys on IR or P squad - Gardner, WHalen. Brent, Coleman, BIshop. Love what we are doing.

Well if it makes you feel any better, that board is about as dead as it's been since anyone here knew that place even existed. You barely even see Ford posting there. It's primarily 4-5 guys, most of which seem to be part of that last group that came over from wherever it is they came from. UK tried to keep it alive, and even Hammer bumped some old posts initially (despite his denials, he clearly realizes he helped sink that board), but it doesn't really matter. Whether they want to admit it or not, deep down, I think they know they messed up. How you ever let a mod of a rivals team board have that much power is asinine. Speaking of which, it doesn't seem like she posts that much anymore either.

YEP....The hoops lose....big time after reading the new wave's posts on all things football. It's basically more opinions based on media opinions...which was why 5 wins was the high water mark last August.

Only thing that still baffles me is Fordman. Ten plus years is a long time and I remain shocked that he was behind twist going all ape sh _T as a supposed hired gun. Never woulda thought fordman would be a party to all that.

Cali?
LOL....who cares?
