Okafor could be our Patrick Ewing for this generation! :)

Stanley Johnson wouldn't be a bad option either. Has great size at 6'7 245. For those of you who don't know a lot about him I suggest you look him up... Thats the type of kid who will be successful in this league.

2015 Pick

Post#23 » by Houston99 » Thu Nov 13, 2014 7:19 pm

Its seems like we are tanking and very happy to know that we are doing that! I am not really a huge fan of college basketball and want to know who would be a good pickup for us? I prefer a Center in this draft. I saw a couple that I would like on on this team but thats just from watching youtube videos. Here is a list of guys that were big man that I could see as fit to this team. From everyone who watches college basketball give me a brief scouting reports on each guy. I think we need to start doing the research right now.

Karl-Anthony Towns
Jahlil Okafor
Kristaps Porzingis
Myles Turner

1) It's the middle of the day
2) The thread just started
3) College basketball hasn't started yet
4) It's already decently busy for a new thread
5) Why does it matter...?

One of the scary things about him is he started as a PF and has transitioned to wing. He's gotten better every year and he's built like an absolute TANK. Still needs some work on his offensive game, but he shows flashes. I'm a big fan, but think he's more of a SF at this stage than a SG.

Porzingis not in college. He's playing pro-ball in Europe.

Yeah, definitely a 3. Did you by any chance happen to see the mini documentary Ballislife did about him? If not I put the link below. Another thing I like about him is his willingness to shine when the lights are the brightest.

People focusing on Okafor reminds me of people focusing on Gasol.

Wrong player to target, Towns or Mudiay should be who we lock on.

My top 5 is:

1. Towns
2. Mudiay
3. Okafor
4. Willie Cauley-Stein
5. Porzingis

Watched the first one then stopped I think. He's improved every year, comes from good basketball genes (I think his mom played?), and he's already built like a rock (which is rare for wings entering the draft). I think he's going to be a nice player. Can't wait to see what he does at Arizona.

Depending on where we pick, I'd look at him --> mainly because he's a hell of a talent on both sides of the ball (can be a real nice defender on top of being a good offensive player) and because I think he might be able to transition to the 2.

Watch him play then comment.

Not a huge fan of WCS. Remind me of a more athletic Robin Lopez / MAYBE Tyson Chandler player. Depending on where we pick, I'd take a look...but I don't think he's that good. As of right now, he's an athletic 7 footer with no discernible skills on offense (besides finishing lobs) or defense (but he has potential on that end for sure).

1. Okafor
2. Mudiay
3. Towns

It will prob change for me during the year, but I bought into the preseason hype for Okafor. Hope he exceeds them. Heck hope each one of them are impressive.

If we play Melo at 4... Then get Gasol and try to S&T Dragic or Rondo sendin Jose, Timmy and filler/pick for either of them. You give Shump his money, too, and prepare for W(ar) 8-)

a) Dragic/Shump/Jonhson/Melo/Gasol

b) Dragic/Shump/Melo/Towns/Gasol

c) Dragic/Shump/Melo/LMA/Okafor

=> in 2016 we can do it even better!!

PS: If Duncan retires, I would like Manu here for 1-2 seasons... Prigs should help us recruiting!!

Depends a lot on which FA is willing to come here!!

Our top targets in FA: Kawhi, Gasol, Dragic, Aldridge

Our top targets in Draft: Johnson, Okafor, Mudiay, Towns

=> We can have three of them; one in FA, one via trade and one in draft... If we draft a big, we can save around 5M of cap space because of their higher market value comparing to guards!!

Well knicks have to draft before trying to recruit free agency. So it's tricky on who to draft, because they don't know which free agent will come to them.

Would Orlando trade Saric draft rights for Timmy and Early?

That's exactly who he is IMO & surprisingly I don't have a problem with that.

Our biggest needs are big men & scoring guards who can also defend. If we can't get either Towns, Mudiay or Okafor I'm perfectly fine with us getting Willie who reminds me of a athletic Tyson.

It would be great to get a two-way big man, I love two-way big guys, you're a fan of two-way big guys  it's just this draft doesn't have great talent at each position so whoever fits your position at need & plays great on defense but at least has potential for the other I think you should go after him.

But then again the season hasn't begun yet so we have 5 months to evaluate.

Gonna be a lot of flip flopping  This college season is going to be hella fun. Big fan of Tyus Jones, too.
