Lins SB stats in that chart are for 13-14 as it clearly says on their site not for 14-15 which is the current season. Those stats are rockets lin as a bench player, boozer under thibs, wes the stretch 4, kobe for 6 games, and hill being a yo yo for pringles
Lins defensive rating as of this season is a 120. That is the worst of all 5 starters, as well as Price, Ellington, and Davis making him the weakest link on that end by a mile so far. His offense hasn't traveled. And to to put the cherry on the top he has a 1/1 assist to turnover ratio

As kblo247 signature, all other Lakers players are GARBAGE! It's not Kobe's fault.
Actually it's Pau yelling garbage at the steves which summed up their tenure

You gotta think of the Lakers as a brand new team. Kobe missed how many games the last two years? New PG, and a bunch of inexperienced role players...and Boozer as the only real vet (outside of Kobe).
We just can't sustain a lead and there's no killer instinct. But we've been close.
I still think they can salvage the season. Maybe not make the playoffs (west is too stacked) but win some games and give us something to get excited about.

I keep hearing Byron calling out the bigs on defense. While he may want to see some better things on offense, I think that is what is bugging Byron the most, not how many shots Kobe is taking or Lin hesitating or Wesley being Wesley or the bigs shooting jump shots. It's their help defense especially.

Ha, I see. You point out that Lin was a bench player and he had Dwight and that inflated his stats. Well, he had even better defensive stats the year before when he was a starter with no Dwight.
Lin's problem defensively is getting over picks, and he has improved already. His strength is funneling his man into shot blockers or he himself blocks it. The starting lineup has Hill and Boozer who neither helps well when he gets picked nor are good shot blockers. I think if Ed Davis is inserted into the starting lineup the situation would get a lot better. Also the opposing PGs have been pretty good so far, small sample size? BTW, the stats I see Lin's defensive stats is better than Kobe's.

This season and next season is the Kobe farewell tour.
All other logic or reasoning doesn't matter.
Lin defense or offense doesn't matter. Lakers are only here to celebrate the Kobe. Nothing else matters. It was an honor for Lin to be invited to the party.
I mean, If Kobe doesn't care about losing then who the F are we to complain? We fans love to watch Kobe score hard baskets over 2 or 3 defenders. We get a full season or more of this.
Fans should get with the program.
Stealth tank.

You're right, I guess they aren't really trying to win out there. The difference between having a top 5 pick and no pick at all is just too great. No need to get worked up over a certain player's performance over a certain period of time. Otherwise they would have started Davis over Boozer already. Actually maybe they're trying to drive down some player's value? And maybe inflate a certain player's stats?
Anyways, enjoy the show! That's all we can do.

Steve Blake missed chunks of time every year with some weird ****
- chicken pox before the playoffs
- stepping on a spike strip on a plot
- rib injury dribbling
- rib injury hitting a pick
- pitcher injury to his arm that's never happened on basketball before
He went those the whole second half of his first year
His second year he was set to be traded by Minny pulled out last minute and we dealt fisher. That in turn led to him starting and putting up a series of 0fer games. He then played better than sessions in the playoffs who pissed himself but was far from a fisher replacement or serviceable.
Third year he came in, got hurt early, played pretty darn good to help the team make a run, and then got hurt again and missed the playoffs.
Last year he balled early, got hurt, came back, got dealt and floundered.
Blake was never worth that contract we gave him. He was often injured. He much like Nash was a failure as a laker. They were both garbage by in large. Blake's goal at the time was to replace fisher and he didn't come close to being as steady, as clutch, or as durable. Nash's goal was to help us win a ring but we know we were a 30mil disability fund who pays him to go on vacation and kick back away from the team his stay here. They were garbage. Blake competed, by by in large the results and lack of availability made him an epic fail to like every pg this millennium not named Fisher and Harper

OK fine, here is an And 1!

So Byron's like, we'll wait around 15 games to do any kind of adjustment, by then it's obviously too late to get into the playoffs, perhaps keep that pick?

That's how I see our first 15 shaking out. 8-7.
lol at this prediction, if 8-7 is a "slow start" then what would you call what we've done?

So the defending champs are next, the team that's last in the pacific division vs the team that's last in the southwest division. What's gonna happen?

Man...once Swaggy got injured we became so vulnerable. Then the definitive news on Nash. And Randle.
Hell of a jinx, that prediction.

We cannot fill a leaky bucket. No matter how much we score, we are going to give up points on the other end because we have far too many turnstiles on defense to carry around. Lin might actually be our only plus defender in the starting unit and to actually win games in the west, you kind of need a good defensive big man (Dwight, AD & Aisk, Duncan, Lopez, Jordan, Bogut etc) or great footspeed in the perimeter (Bledsoe & Dragic). We have neither.
I don't mind the roster we put together for a season but if we genuinely at any point believed we'd be contending for anything more than lottery, that's far more concerning because the best defensive big man we have has actually been more of a pleasant surprise than an actual planned signing.
