2022 Qatar World Cup Discussion

On the day FIFA, the sport's global governing body cleared Qatar and Russia of alleged corruption in bidding for the World Cup, the man who led the investigation has hit back.
Michael Garcia, the man who spent 18 months scrutinizing the bids to host the 2018 and 2022 tournaments, has labeled FIFA's findings on his report "incomplete and erroneous."

Russia destroyed their computers and couldn't provide emails, England got singled out as villains, Bin Hamin's shady dealings were linked exclusively to his presidential compaign with nothing to do with the WC

Whole thing is a joke, expected nothing else from FIFA.

As someone who has spent the summer months in Dubai, and Bahrain, this is a horrible idea. I was dropping massive sweat by just walking. I would sweat like a pig just walking through the hangar from the mess decks to my shop. It was unbearable and this is coming from someone who grew up in Colombia, have spent my entire time in the U.S in Orlando, Vegas, and Jacksonville.

I don't expect the players nor the fans to handle this kind of heat well.

I have a feeling the Fifa ethic committee just got a huge unscheduled paycheck.

england should boycott the world cup from qualification. sure tournament wouldn't lose much quality but it would lose substantial viewership and money, and hopefully snowballs on to some other top countries.

They've got a shiny new stadium to pay for over the next decade, no chance they go it alone

How the **** can they continue to back Qatar, knowing the conditions that the workers are facing? FIFA is basically turning a blind eye to slavery. I wonder how many people will die making this farcical joke of a World Cup happen? FIFA is truly one of the worst organizations out there.

FIFA to move 2022 World Cup in Qatar to November, December schedule

Prepare to circle your calendars, folks. The 2022 World Cup will reportedly soon have a finalized schedule.

FIFA is set to move the controversial 2022 tournament in Qatar from the summer months to the winter, SI.com reported on Wednesday citing multiple sources. It is ancipated that a FIFA task force will make the suggestion of having the competition played during November-December at a meeting in Doha next week, and a final decision will then need to be made by the FIFA Executive Committee in Zurich in March.

If the World Cup is moved from its traditional June-July timeframe, only the European club season is expected to be impacted from a schedule point of view. To accomodate the World Cup, some clubs are hoping that a few international fixture dates are axed.

There have long been concerns over Qatar's ability to host the 2022 World Cup in the summer due to its soaring temperatures. A winter World Cup has been rumored for months, but now it appears to be as close to a reality as ever.

The handball world cup in Qatar this year was a joke all around. Empty arenas (they paid people to watch the games and Qatar paid Spanish fans to root for Qatar), no world cup atmosphere at all and Qatar making it to the final with a bunch of foreigners getting paid 100.000€ per win (they had 4 players from Qatar). They also paid the refs, who were the reason for Qatar making the final.

This world cup literally destroyed every last bit of interest people had in handball in Germany (and in many other countries, I guess), where it used to be pretty big. Soccer is another story, of course, but I think the soccer World Cup 2022 will be just as much of a joke as the handball World Cup 2015.

I still hope this doesn't happen and Qatar loses the tournament.

Football is much bigger than Handball though.

Handball is a pretty small sport worldwide tbf. In the major countries(Germany, France) it's mostly smaller cities in the provinces that are passionate about it.
Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Kevin Garnett, Toni Kroos, Pep Guardiola, Ernst Happel, Joachim Löw.
