Curse at Small Forward Spot

Post#1 » by Ranma » Sat Nov 15, 2014 12:23 am

I don't know what it is about the small forward spot on this team, but it looks like Chris Douglas-Roberts was trying to play through injury this season. Wasn't the Achilles' also Jared Dudley's ailment?

Tendonitis, actually.

Ever since Corey Maggette left, the small forward spot for the Clippers has been horrendous. This might be a spot that can only be solved by either Blake Griffin transitioning to the small forward, or they go after a superstar small forward.

My reason of why I don't want to see the other guys - Gerald Green, Jeff Green, Arron Afflalo, and the like - play the small forward is mainly the fear of having to face an Achielles issue (re: Chauncey Billups). Clippers seem to be better off using point guards, shooting guards and power forwards masquerading at the 3.

Yeah, Dudley had knee tendinitis all season and did the same thing. Not sure CDR would have changed much to start the season, but we certainly can use his length and defense if Barnes isn't producing.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

I guess that explains why CDR wasn't playing that well. I'm hoping that our collection of SFs can play decent. (Hoping is my key word)

I've said this before, but I think Doc should really press hard for Ray Allen to sign. I know that he isn't exactly a small forward, but he would suffice. He could even offer him the starting job.

Hate to say it, but the curse continues. Via Fred Katz of Clipperblog, a good friend of mine:

I don't think Ray wants to go through with the rigors of regular season, I would think he would like to sign with a contender for one more run at the ring, at least past the all stars.

but does anyone ever wonder what exactly is the issue with our doctors and training staff? how do you make a trade every year that botches medical clearance? they should have never passed the physical. some less civilized can cry about some irrational superstitions but clearly this is an area that needs to improve in a hurry especially for a team that relies on CP3 and Blake's shaky knees.
unless NBA makes trades before examining players involved, I cannot forgive Dudley getting traded to us hurt, and now CDR coming to us already hurt again. fire our medical staff and start new.

i honestly thought it was against the CBA to trade a player that was hurt w/o disclosing it.

Don't think so or else the Dwight to Lakers trade would have never gone through. No way Philly makes that trade if they truly knew about Bynum's health.

but everybody knew dwight was going to have surgery ahead of the summer. the lakers took that risk on themselves.

yea....and the Bynum trade was the 1st trade that made me think...oh, maybe those rules aren't on the books....so yea.

The Clippers did trade Jared Dudley for an injured Carlos Delfino, who was promptly waived using the stretch provision.

We are a long way from playoffs so I think we should rest all our injured players and let them heal fully. Dudley never got the chance to heal because we kept playing him. Let's blood Bullock and give him some 24+ minute games.

Even though CDR is injured I'm not expecting him to be our saviour when he is healthy.

I didn't realize that CDR's injury was that serious. I hope he takes the time he needs to get healthy and play effectively.

Best Use of Playing Time

I don't get Doc. He keeps playing players who are ineffective even when it hurts the player and to the detriment of the team, yet he's reluctant in playing healthy rookies who could benefit from the experience. And who knows? The rookie may end up contributing and improving to help in a postseason run. The team has been struggling, so it's not like a rookie getting playing time would hurt.

and i feel like it makes Reggie timid...jumpy as hell on the court.

let that kid play man...please...w/o fear. I just want to see what his best game for us could be like.

Missing the Boat and Heart in Boston

Post#18 » by Ranma » Sun Nov 16, 2014 3:18 am

Chris Mannix, Sports Illustrated (11/7/14)
SI.com: Doc Rivers said he tried really hard to get you to L.A. How close were you to being a Clipper?

Pierce:
"I thought a lot about L.A. My wife wanted to stay there and put the kids in school. It would have been an easier transition for me being with Doc, being at home. I think I missed out on that opportunity by waiting to see what Brooklyn was going to do. When they eventually said they weren’t going to make any moves, I missed that boat. That kind of upset me."

SI.com: Think you will ever go back to Boston?

Pierce:
"Definitely. Maybe as a player, maybe as a coach, maybe upstairs [in the front office]. I follow what they are doing. I went back to Boston twice this summer, went to their practice facility. I keep up with them."

Five questions with ... Paul Pierce

you are assuming that these guys (Dudley and CDR) were already injured when the Clippers got them. It could be that they got injured in training camp or that the injuries are just a cover for their bad play and that they are exagerrating the extent of the injuries to save face

No curse they just need to get a real player at the wing and stop expecting scrubs to handle the job. Giving up Bledsoe for Dudley was stupid anyway
Notes: Rookie Rudy Gay twisted his left ankle trying to guard McGrady late in the third quarter and limped to the bench. He returned with 5:51 left, then returned to the bench about a minute later - http://www.nba.com/games/20061231/MEMHOU/recap.html
