I chose CP3 because we looked like we were going to choke (again) and he stepped up when Blake didn't.

DJ played his ass off tonight. He was rebounding like he did last season, but the blocks...He didn't swat them out into the stands. He kept them in play. A few of them were pure stuffs. I've loved his activity out there tonight. It wasn't so much the numbers (which look great btw), but just his overall presence.

Doc's Choice

Post#5 » by Ranma » Sun Nov 16, 2014 8:31 am

Rowan Kavner, Clippers.com (11/15/14)
“I thought he was the star of the game,” said head coach Doc Rivers. “Not only just the rebounds, but he changed opponents’ shots. He was everywhere. His energy tonight was amazing. He was a one-man wrecking crew. It felt like he had 30 blocked shots. Even the shots that he didn’t block, he changed.”
...

“DJ is one of those guys that, thankfully, he doesn’t miss games or anything like that,” Paul said. “I almost couldn’t imagine him not out there, because he covers up so much for us on the defensive end. When guys blow by us, they know that now you’ve got to see DJ when you get into the lane.”
...

At the same time, they held the Suns to 27 percent shooting overall and 28 percent shooting from deep in the third quarter. That was mostly the result of Jordan, who had three more rebounds than the Suns team in the third quarter.

Doc & Cassell Calling for More CP3 Shots

Post#6 » by Ranma » Sun Nov 16, 2014 8:42 am

I'm glad to hear both Doc and Cassell getting on CP3 to be more aggressive in looking for his shots.

Rowan Kavner, Clippers.com (11/15/14)
A third quarter in which the Clippers outscored the Suns by 22 points wasn’t just what head coach Doc Rivers thought his team could be.

“It’s the team we will be,” Rivers said. “I keep saying, ‘We will be that team.’”
...

“I know you can’t do that every game, but sometimes I’d like him to be more of an aggressive player like he was tonight,” Rivers said. “I told him that coming into the season. He is such a point guard that it’s hard for him to do it. When he’s very aggressive, we’re a very dangerous basketball team.”

It’s not just Rivers who gets on to Paul preaching aggression; it’s also assistant coach Sam Cassell. Paul said as a point guard and a player capable of making two people guard him, he tends to just pick his spots shooting the ball when he could do it more often.

“Sam is constantly on me,” Paul said. “He thinks I pass up 1,000 shots. I do pass up a few here and there and I’m working on that, but both of them stay on me about being aggressive.”
