The company that created Minecraft "Mojang" was purchased by Microsoft recently, i haven't played it in a while. Its a hard game to play when you don't have any building ideas and it gets grindy

My two boys built a house, tamed a wolf, and have fought zombie type stuff all night long. I tried to play it and sucked at it, and im normally a gaming nerd. Unbelievable.
You can actually fight?
I thought you just built random ****.
You can apparently fight. They go out in the dark and spiders and **** come at them along with walking zombie things. They hit them with an ax and stuff. I don't know. They watch youtube videos of people speaking Japanese and are infatuated with it. Beginning to get worried. They are way too good at the game for one, and they need to go outside and get some fresh air for two.

Hell of a babysitter though.
My eldest turned 8 last Wednesday and she is obsessed with it as well. She has limited time on her iPad (imposed by me) but when she's allowed to be on it she is 100% of the time playing it. Heck, she watches Youtube clips of it with other people playing it and narrating it while they do.
I don't get the game. At all. Looks like it's from the 1980's and doesn't really seem to have a point.
But she loves it. She talks about it when she is not playing and gets super excited about it.
It kind of drives me nuts TBH - but then I remember how much I am into the Hornets and I check myself.

Lol. I think my 7 and 6 year old sons like watching people play on youtube more than they do actually playing. It really freaks me out at times. Especially when its always narrated by a 60 year old man. I feel like they are being manipulated or something.

My friends son ( i think he is 11?) likes watching people play games online, his favorites are some dude named "Goode" or "Guude" and Vintage Beef, i'll try and find them later, pretty sure they are quite popular

You have to. At night zombies and arrow-wielding skeletons attack if you're not indoors #nerdout
PVP servers are fun/hilarious as you have small teams that can either mine and build on your own or build cannons and **** to take out other people's creations and then steal the remnants.

What I have basically found out from the last 20 comments is that not only are we pathetic enough that we follow this sorry ass franchise for the past several years, but we also play games where we throw arrows at zombies and take out other peoples creations and steal their ****.
I love it. Best fan base in the world.

and while all of this is going on, poor Slam has to take months off drinking since he knows the season can get real depressing winter time and we all are due to drink heavy then.

Re: Off Topic VII
Sorry for interrupting the minecraft discussion... ( i don't really get it either, but one of my ex-workmates was/is a fanatic. He got one of that oculus glasses too for better gaming i think. But he uses that for plane-simulators and such too)
I was thinking I should ask you guys how's the living in the Carolinas. I'm from Hungary, and bc of some personal reasons (I see our economical and political future murky, dark and the surroundings depressing) me and my gf is thinking about jumping from the country. It's not a must, I'm glad to say we have good jobs (relatively - I earn more than double of the avarage salary and more than 3 times the minimal, but it's really not that much.... not enough for example to plan our future freely, buy a house or a flat -the realty prices are much lower here, and even with that...)
So we are thinking about this ship-jumping thing. I'm finishing uni this spring (will be a lawyer, of course I can't use that anywhere else in the world mainly.....), and looking through blogs and articles about the different countries, job-wise mainly.
USA is a bit far-fetched for us, but still - if you have some thoughts about jobs, needed professions in your area, and generally some words about how is the life for you I'd be glad to read them.

bence, sorry to hear about the hard times in hungary. if you came to the US, would you be coming on a work visa or student visa? do you have any connection to get citizenship? how hard would it be to get a work visa in your profession?
what other places besides the US are you considering? how hard is it to relocate to another european country?

Re: Off Topic VII
as for life in the US, its all i have ever known. I dont have much basis of comparison. that being said, i love living in the carolinas. the weather is usually not too bad, we have mountains and beaches, metropolitan cities and rural areas. the economy here is better than most areas in the US.

Not that hard, only depressing. I don't know how much gets into your news, but we have quite a funny/weird debacle between our countries.
As I'm finishing the uni this spring, i think i could aply to a student visa (should require to go to Phd, which I really do not want), and also being 28 yrs old I had my learning for my life. Meaning in the school system, in a university... Getting to know a profession is always a possibility.
So work visa should be the one. No connections, I have relatives living in the US, but I don't think that would help in this. My profession - which is the only one I'll have a paper from is being a lawyer. I can't do sh*t with that in the USA as you can imagine
It's super easy to relocate within Europe. We are part of the European Union, so there are basicly no borders for us (only between Hungary and Ukraine and Serbia to be precise).
The most likely destinations would be the Netherlands, Sweden, the British Isles (England, but more likely Ireland or Scotland). In Sweden, there aren't much need for someone like me. I'm managing a wholesale dealer in computer parts (for 3 years now and haave previous office-job experiences), Apple products and so, but no managing jobs are open w/o papers, only experience. A masters in law isn't going well with sales...
Netherlands, England are more likely destinations.
Other than Europe (my gf hates german language, so there goes Germany, Switzerland, Austria) New Zealand is a dream scenario. Also no need for people like us. They need factory workers, carpenters, electricians, etc.

the financial crisis of 2008 really hit us hard (I think Iceland is the only country to suffer more from it).
the best young minds study and then live abroad, the middle and lower class who lost jobs due to the crisis are forced to work abroad, the students who study here and then can't find a job eventually go and work abroad, etc.
the countryside is dying out, terrifying numbers of people leave every year.
and meanwhile back here the morale is low, people are upset about salaries and about the general incompetence of the government.
but yeah, that basically can be said about a few of countries in our region.
