Maybe at some point it's not the coach, maybe it's our personnel is not made to be a great defensive team. I have a hard time believing Tom Thibodeau could come in here and have better results. We have Carlos Boozer (one of the worst defensive players in league, why Thibs benched him), Kobe Bryant (free safety role for past 5-6 years), Jeremy Lin (defensively awful) in our starting lineup and Jordan Hill playing out of position. What was everybody expecting?

We have to change our starting lineup in order to have a somewhat functional D.

PG: Price
SG: Bryant
SF: Johnson
PF: Kelly or Hill
C: Ed Davis

Move Lin, Boozer to bench. Young comes back. Makes that unit a lot more effective.

Lin is actually not that bad defensively, he just needs a shot blocking/help D center behind. He is not very good at going thru picks but is quite good funneling his man into the bigs. I don't know if it's a good idea funneling opposing players into Boozer and Hill.

Hard to be good defensively when lin is the best defender in the starting lineup

Also it's too early to comparing to last year when we only lose to western playoff teams

Is Lin really our best defender in the line up? I find that hard to believe.

Lin's defensive stats were quiet above average for a guard last year. take it for what it's worth. However this have not been clearly reflective so far this year statistically, even though he's doing a good deal of the things I like defensively still (taking charges. navigating screens well in general.)

I do believe he is an averge coach at best, but the Laker's defensive woes really have nothing to do with B. Scott in my opinion.

And to compare him to MDA from a defensive perspective is ridiculous. B. Scott's emphasis is on defense. And he doesn't sound like a babbling idiot like MDA used to.
Th Lakers are a poor defensive team because they have no interior defensive presence, their perimeter defense is porous, they give up way too many 3s, and their rotations stink.
Some of that is coaching, but mostly it's personnel.

This drives me nuts. If you go back and rewatch the first 20 or so games last year, the Laker defense was actually pretty decent. They ran defensive schemes that worked. It all fell apart after the injuries and by the laker staff's own admission, they were unable to teach the schemes because they had a hodgepodge lineup going out there every night.

What's Scott's excuse? He arguably has a better roster than last year's team! What's worse is he came in talking about defense. Ugh. Scott's a loser.

Scott's gotta at least try inserting Davis into the starting lineup?
