Stupid for Stupid

Post#1 » by Blkbrd671 » Mon Nov 17, 2014 2:27 am

Detroit in: MCgee, Chandler

Denver in : Smith, Datome, Mitchell

Detroit trades a PF for a back up center and fills SF need. While i know everyone hates mcgee, fact is the guy is huge , he's athletic and we have a competent coach. While i don't think SVG can turn mcgee into a franchise player, i do think he can make him a decent role player. We definitely need a backup center.

While its really hard to argue, Denver is gettin the better player in the deal. Smith at the very least can defend the perimeter and a couple post ups, Mcgee brings size and that's it. While the differene in utility isn'tquite the value of chandler, Datome still has quie a bit of potential, and Mitchell may prosper in a different environment.

Would love this trade, no way Denver would ever do it though.

I would do that trade for sure. It would make us less talented but I'd take it.

1 - any trade that doesn't net us a dude that can create off the dribble is a trade for the sake of it

2 - outside of Lawson & AA there is nothing in Denver I'd be remotely interested in, including Faried who has done sweet FA thus far this season

Considering Denver's cap situation I think they'll blow it up soon

While I have no problem with this talent-wise, the fact is that we're already short on facilitators, and sadly enough Josh Smith is one of our better passers. McGee couldn't pass a kidney stone, let alone a basketball, and I don't think Chandler fills that void, either.

In a lot of ways, just moving Smith is a net positive, but we DO need guys that can move the ball around.

Nuggets will not take Smith with Faried at the same position.

Out of one side of their mouths people will say "trade Smith for anything", then you propose a deal and they say "well, I don't know about that player, what about this player who clearly has much higher value".

I think it would be a great deal if Denver would be amicable, McGee expires a year earlier than Smith and allows us to have a rim protector next to Monroe all the time. Chandler would be a dramatic upgrade at the 3 for us. I think it will be a hard sell for Denver, their entire team expires after next year with the exception of Lawson / Faried / Gary Harris / Nurkic. A lot of their fans are saying trade everyone of value, tank and rebuild around that nucleus plus high draft picks.

We aren't going to trade Smith for usable expiring contracts, and no, Singler does not make up the difference.

McGee's deal has 2 years left while Smith's has 3... so for all the people begging to get ririd of him, this would get the contract off the books a year early.

Smith is not the problem. I will say it even if im the last one to say it. We have no wing or perimeter scoring Jesus.

We dog smith but what about kcp? What about singer playing 26-30 min a night. Is this going to get it done on the wing and perimeter. Man lol no!

Our big 3 upfront is a MAJOR plus to have. You dont need to trade pr break it up. Just be patient and wait for perimeter talent

Detroit, Denver and idk maybe the Knicks or some other team in a 3 team trade. Faried sent to a thrid team and SMith to nuggets. I think Denver will for sure make a trade in the next couple months. You can book that. Their roster looks crazy smh.

Wilson chandler is a upgrade over kyle singler and butler. We have no back up center!!! Right now we have Josh smith, Moose, and JJ as PF's, turning Smith into a back up center and cuts a year off commited salary. I would not propose this trade if SVG was not our coach. Even if Mcgee never see's the floor, we get a legit SF, which is already a upgrade over smith at that position
