You can achieve a whole lot of success in this league simply by beating the teams you're supposed to beat. It doesn't have to be pretty, but you gotta get it done. That's what the Wizards are doing so far. They're definitely going to have to play better to beat the good teams, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, I'm satisfied that they're taking care of business against the bad teams. 7-2 is 7-2.

Beal is good and I am probably concerned for no reason. If Beal brings it defensively I believe all will go well, even with an occasional long two.
The beauty of Beal is that he lets the game come to him. Of all people on the roster, he is probably the least of a concern in the chemistry disruption department. He'll give us everything Temple gives us, plus a lot more floor spacing to open up the court for Wall and the bigs. There's a reason why so many basketball commentators love Beal (some like him more than Wall). He's a guy that brings only pluses, with no minuses.

Also I think Pierce's whole message to Wall and Beal about getting more FTs might be true. It SEEMs to me that Wall is taking that point seriously, he doesn't really jack long 2s as his first option this season. He seems more patient. I am hoping, when Beal does come back, that same patience is noticeable in Beal as well.

Vuc is a beast, Gortat seems to struggle a little with his strength. There was one possession where Seraphin was guarding him in the post and Vuc couldn't move him. Seraphin is still prolly the strongest guy on the team, yet he has no idea how to properly leverage that strength :/
Yep. Our biggest weakness is lack of a consistent three ball. It's hard to sustain runs without the three.
Though it evened out tonight a bit by the end, the Magic hung with us by exchanging twos for threes.
Wiz played pretty darned well in the first half but couldn't get the separation you'd expect.
Beal will help, though he too frequently settles for the long two.
A healthy Webby on the other hand would be huge. He HUNTS threes.

No, your concern is legit in my book. I have been thinking about this stuff myself.
Initially, it won't be much of an issue as I expect Beal to come off the bench for at least a game but Im not even sure about that anymore. You will basically get Beal instead of Rasual. Which with the way Rasual has been playing lately doesn't add as much as you would think at SG but it does adds more depth knowing you can turn to Rasual when needed and it gives you more options at SF while Webster is out.
The issue is that they are getting so few corner 3 spot ups from SF. Otto is shooting more mid range, Otto has taken just 1 in 3 games and make 0. And Paul has been this. http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/662/paul-pierce. Otto hasn't been aggressive enough consistently and Paul has been pretty bad so far.
So one good thing about Beal coming back is that we will have the lux of going with
Wall, Beal, Rasual, Hump, Gortat or Nene with both Beal and Rasual camping left and right corners and that opens everything up.
Thats going to be our best 3 point shooting line up.
But yeah, Wall does tend to fade more often when he isn't consistently shooting. Wall is a rhythm scorer. Even last night, he started well but then it seemed he went a long time without scoring and he missed those two layups. He wasn't the same after that.
Having Pauls vet present around is huge. Finding the right fit for him via mins and role on the team once everyone is back is a little more challenging. He has to find his 3 ball. If he doesn't, you have to cut his minutes back to like 8-10 a game.

Saved by the bench. Hump has definitely been a valuable pickup. I knew he was a tough rebounder but didn't know he had such a good midrange shot.
Otto came through with some key baskets in the 3rd when the starters were struggling. I think the concerns about his unorthodox jumper can be put to rest now.
Wall took 11 long 2s and also struggled to finish at the rim. Fortunately we got away with it but he needs to get his game together. I suspect the only reason he went to the basket so aggressively against the Pistons is because Jennings lit him up early.
The Temple at the 2 experiment needs to die. There is no way this guy should be playing in front of Rice.

I think he went 3-12 on jump shots. I can live with that shot occasionally but when the Wiz were struggling in the 3rd, Wall went into full chuck mode. Just horrible shot selection considering the momentum shift.

thats why Wall needs to make his layups because when he has horrible shooting nights like this, his FG% on the season takes a big hit. Layups makeup for that. Has any reporter asked him about all the miss layups and is the staff working with him? Again, its upsetting that he's 6'4, super athleic, and misses so many while I watch a ton of the smallest guards in the league make them with ease. Jennings, Reggie Jackson, Isiah Thomas, Parker, and all these guys never miss uncontested layups like Wall. Atleast make the uncontested one's

To my new friend hands11:
Paul's 3 ball will return shortly. He shot 40% from 3 just last season after 12/1/2013. Career 3 = 37-38%
He will not play less than 25 minutes per game. Not only do the Wiz need his scoring, but they also need his excellent all around play and vet presence.

Could watch until it was long over. I was tired Saturday night after completing 50 miles!
Was really happy to see the game nearly sold out and I sold my tickets on NBA.com.
In the past, even a Sat night game would be a tough sell if it wasn't against a marquee
team. With the Slurs sucking, there is an opening in DC for a successful franchise. Just gotta
maintain the success.
Loved Hump and OP in this game. A bench that has Miller at PG, a solid wing in OP and
a good big in Hump is going to get the job done on a lot of nights.
