Six in one hand, half a dozen in the other.

While it's good to to add to the win column and subtract from the loss column, this will not remove the moral and mental defeat that came from that game.

"The basis for the Kings' protest is that Courtney Lee's game-winning shot should have been disqualified as having been made after time expired."

Vague, but I'd assume both the Hollins tip, and the clock.

Too lazy to look up the rule, but isn't there a distinction between how much time needs to be on the clock for an alley-oop (what Lee did), vs. a tip-in?

I thought you needed more than 0.3 seconds for an alley-oop. If this is the case then according to the NBA's own rules Lee could not have accomplished that shot with the time left on the clock.

It's .3 to do a shot, .2 is tip only.

A "tip-in" is defined as any action in which the ball is deflected, not controlled, by a player and then enters the basket ring. This type of action shall be deemed legal if :00.1 or more remains in a period.

A "high lob" is defined as a pass which is tipped by an offensive player while in mid-air, and is followed instantaneously by a field goal attempt. If the reception of the pass and the subsequent "slam dunk" is immediately adjacent to the basket ring, this type of action shall be deemed legal if :00.1 or more remains in a period. However, if the "high lob" attempt is a distance from the basket ring whereby the ball must be controlled in mid-air, either one-handed or two-handed, a minimum of :00.3 is nec-essary for a field goal to score if successful.

We needed to lose that game honestly. Gave the team the sense of urgency it needs if they want to compete. Playing half a game, three quarters of a game, isn't good enough to get the Kings to the playoffs. Short term loss for a long term gain.

That being said, reversing this decision could be the best case scenario. Feel the sting of the loss through the month, and then get the W in the column anyways.

Hearing the NBA didn't overturn the outcome isn't very surprising but it opened an old wound. What a crap job by those refs.
