No he wouldn't. Even if we concede that Giannis has some otherworldly IQ(which I don't concede), Smith would still have a broken jumper and would be stuck between positions offensively, lacking the real offensive skill to be a SF or the post skills to consistently score inside, and rebound at a high level. Would be an excellent defender though.^^

Until Giannis takes big jumps forward, he's another young, super long/athletic combo guy with the ball handling and finishing skills of a smaller man, that makes people think he's going to be come a SG on offense with big man defensive impact, and it generally never happens.

Big time talent, but he has a ton of work to do, both on his game, and his body.

One thing I do like that he has, that a lot of other of the run/jump guys his size that everyone falls in love with, is that he's fluid and graceful. I think that shows a lot more potential than any particular skill, because people fall in love with "athlete" types that don't have the fluidity to pull off advanced skills.

Why put words into my mouth? Josh Smith os an idiotic basketball player, who would be a very good one if he simply realized he is a garbage man on offense. Instead he shoots multiple 3's a game at some of the worst percetages ive ever seen. Giannis is a very smart player no doubt, but no one said he has a"otherwordly" IQ besides you. I Agree with the remainder of your post, but keep in mind that the main difference between Giannis and someone like Anthony Randolph is that Giannis has a brain and a serious work ethic

You said having Giannis' IQ would make him one of the best players in the league. Josh Smith has a flawed skillset, and is a little bit of a tweener. To take that, and make it one of the best players in the world, he'd have to have an incredible IQ, not just very good.

Semantics I guess, or maybe you just think more highly of Smith's skillset than I do.

Smith would be an all-star calibre player if he had respectable percentages. Allstar is a top player in the league in my book

Yeah if you take it out of context... You can see all different elements of those players in Giannis, that was the whole point...

I wonder if many people that doubted Giannis have changed their opinion or vice versa but one thing is for sure, the Greel Freak is quite impressive so far this season.

What i believe is probably the biggest positive is that Giannis is starting to prove he can play the PF position and Jabari has been impactful from the SF position.It s gonna be very important to be able to play both of them at the same time.

I really really love his versatility.He had a good game against Zach Randolph in the Memphis game(and Randolph is a bruiser so i expected Giannis to struggle a bit) and a big game down the stretch against Joe Johnson yesterday.Didn t like the 2 early fouls against the Knicks but he s young so he is going to have some ups and downs

Did anyone noticed that Giannis compared to last year takes almost no 3 pt shots?
You think its the lack of confidence in his shooting or he changed his playstyle to just go for the rim ?

Change in playstyle once his drive becomes a main weapon of his he can improve his jumper

The three hasn't been an issue because guys are sagging right off him which works out great because he's unstoppable when he's on the move. Teams will figure out eventually that they have to come right up to him to stop him getting momentum. Sounds counter intuitive but watch and you'll see. It's a lot of fun.

I don't get the Magic comparison.
I think AK47 is much better and he would be extremely lucky to reach that.
