We may as well just keep BJ until he has about a year left and cut him.

I'm glad Nat Killer Jason Heyward is out of the division. But Shelby Miller is a nice young arm. Good deal for Atlanta.

Would people be up in arms if Stanton's deal was 6 yrs/$150 million? Everyone would praise it right? It's the sticker shock, 13 years/$325 million even though there's an asterisk attached to that. I don't have a problem with it, it beats paying Pujols $25 million when he's 41. At least Stanton would still be in his late 30s.

There's no way Stanton finishes his career with the Marlins anyway.

I guarantee that Stanton will be a Yankee by the time he's 32.

Write that in Brian Cashman's blood.

not the biggest of deals.
but significant.

By no means do I believe Billy Butler is a bad player, but I just don't see the appeal in giving a DH not named David Ortiz $10 mil per year.

Billy Beane sure do love his white players. Another year with little diversity in the clubhouse. You can go 8 or 10 years ago where the A's was nothing, but a white team. A lot of A's fans always questioned Billy Beane about why he doesn't want to mix up the clubhouse. This is really alarming and I hate to play the race card, but it's true.

I dont understand the reasoning behind giving a DH who only hit 9 hr's 10 mill a year. I understand he had a great postseason but I think Billy Bean was just trying to sign someone during this FA period.

To be fair he had a good season two years ago but yeah, the A's were desperate for a DH

Has anyone within baseball made this criticism about Beane, or is this just your own pet theory?

It's actually been thrown around for quite a few years now. A reporter actually wrote a column for Oakland Tribune back in like 08 saying that Beane was whitewashing the A's when he cut Milton Bradley.

YUP! There was also a column about how Billy Beane disrespected Ron Washington after all those years as a hell of a 3rd baseman coach for the A's and how much he developed all these guys on fielding especially the gold glover Eric Chavez at 3rd base, but yet, gave the job to his good buddy Bob Geren because Billy Beane doesn't value diversity.

Stanford, nope it's among A's fans and around baseball. I usually go to the games on the weekend and Tuesday because it's free parking at the Coliseum and there's always chatters about what players gets on the field. A lot of fans will even point out all the white players from left field to catcher except for Coco Crisp these last few years and Yoenis Cepesdes until he got traded. It's a white dominate team and considering how diverse Oakland is and especially how big of a Latin community we have around here, Billy Beane continues to failed at mixing up the clubhouse.

Jemile Weeks for Jim Johnson
Michael Choice for Craig Gentry
Addison Russell for The Shark and Jason Hammel
Yoesnis Cespedes for Jon Lester

All these trades in one season and what do you know? Weeks, Choice, Russell, and Cespedes brings diversity to the clubhouse, but Billy Beane didn't want that.
