Xavier Henry
He was pretty good last year. Is he out of shape?

D'Antoni has a penchant for making scrubs look like serviceable players.

Re: Xavier Henry
I think the knee is permanently jacked up. He played well last year but his game relies on explosiveness and he has none right now.

He was never an all star to begin with also, remember he was a cast off journeyman on a minimum contract. He was pulling it together, but was still years off. The injury and time off the court is really hurting him.
I'm not trying to dump on X because he was one of my favorite dudes last year but it's possible he's done for the forseeable future unfortunately

Yup probably out of shape and not completely 100%. If he's lucky, he'll probably get a shot overseas next year. If not, he's probably done.

Re: Xavier Henry
Wassup with his FT shooting?
He shot over 40% from three but 60% from the line?

Thanks for the honesty.MorbidHEAT wrote:My dislike for Lin started during Linsanity. It was absurd. It's probably irrational dislike at this point, but man he gets on my nerves. He's been tearing us up though.

You talking career, season? What stats are you looking at?
I'm not a professional basketball psychologist, but statistical disparities like those are generally either mental, or conditioned.
It's just like during the mid 90's when everyone was practicing their crossovers versus their mid range pull ups.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there was a sizeable contingent of players out there who practice three point shooting rhythm versus putting in time shooting hundreds of free throws every day.
Could also be sample size, if a player doesn't get starter minutes over long stretches of time you might get anomalous data

The 40% from three is from his second season, so he shows that he's capable. the 60% from the line is career.
I hear ya. At least he's not as bad as Nick Anderson.

Nick shot 40% from the line one season

No kidding! And if he weren't missing all those freebies, maybe Shaq would have won a championship there and stayed! History would have been all changed!

Re: Xavier Henry
Dude is a classic product of the D'Antoni system. Put up 10 ppg while being like the 3rd guard off the bench last year.
Funny thing is D'Antoni got much more out of some scrubs last year than Byron Scott ever would. I personally believe our current roster is better than it was last year but yet our record is horribly worse. Lin under D'Antoni was Linsanity. Heck, MDA made Steve Blake look like a triple double threat most games.

Why didn't we waive him 2 weeks ago for Quincy Miller? Why???

Re: Xavier Henry
No need to worry about not waiving him, his salary is like $1 mil and that's not going to stop us from adding players with Randle's DPE. I just feel for him, just when he seemed to have salvaged his career last season he just suffers the worst possible injury for a player.

Lakers can't use Randle's DPE without waiving a player. The roster is at 15 and we cannot go over that. Henry was the prime candidate to be waived. Now that he's hurt (which sucks and I feel bad for him), the team cannot waive him. So the only way to use Randle's DPE would be to waive Price or Ellington, which I don't see the team doing since Price is the backup PG and his contract just became fully guaranteed and Ellington is the best spot up shooter we have (not saying much) and his contract is fully guaranteed on Dec 1.

Damn, I thought our roster was at 14 for some reason. We just have 3 IRs and one guy who can't seem to stay fit in Kelly.

Re: Xavier Henry
This sucks for him. Looks like his career is over. How many injuries is that? FOUR on the team with Nash, Randle, and Kelly. Can the Lakers add another player now or have to cut Henry to do so?
