SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Maybe but they're too long for what's left of my brain. I'm waiting for Inigo Montoya to drop by so I can allow him to sum up for me.

I get weary of the 'model the spurs' discussion. We have no business comparing this franchise to that one. Apple and Orange.

When it comes to this trade thread, I think our fruit will die on the vine, unless we are willing to offer up Bledsoe, Dragic. The rest of our roster are fill-ins, fodder, and handsomely paid reserves. Of course, I am omitting the four kids. Without ponying up some real talent, we are not getting any significant player in return.

Trade wise, West for Bledsoe deal is the most realistic scenario, IMO. Not much to choose from. Image *
But, perhaps McDo can find a rabbit in a hat. He needs to. Now that the honeymoon is over, he will be graded on results not just speculative glee. I see many here are beginning to question the last 40 mil per yr he just spent.

I know it's heresy to suggest a double dragon trade, and it's the last thing I would want for this team. As previously mentioned I think we'd be much better positioned after a Bled trade. However, what's the consensus value and fit wise on the following?

ORL in: Goran and Zoran
PHX in: Aaron Gordon and filler

PHX - clears our minute logjam this year and gives us a very nice young frontcourt of Warren-Gordon-Len moving forward. Coupled with a seasoned Bledsoe and an able Bogdanovic in the backcourt and the future looks bright.

ORL - reunites the Dragic-Frye combo and surrounds them with an All-NBA calibre big man and a few very decent young wing prospects (Oladipo, Fournier, Harris, Harkless). Payton is groomed under Goran for the next few years.

The problem still lies with the instant gratification most fans want. Patience is sorely lacking and the rush to judgement is comical. We see it in game thread after game thread. IT was the savior after some incredible play during the first few games of the season. Now IT is a horrible ball hog who plays no defense. Bledsoe turns the ball over too much but then hits game winning shots and forces game winning turnovers. The Morri get called out for inconsistency between games. Plumlee takes a regular beating, Everyone wonders where has Dragic gone. We clamor for playing time for Len, Warren, Goodwin, and Ennis. We complain insistently about our bigs being the weak link.

Yet here we sit at 8-5 on pace to win 50 games. Asking to make absurdly impossible trades or marginal trades that likely will not improve our win percentage. We are the only team in the league with 5 players putting up 13+ points per game. We have one of the top bench scoring units in the league. Our defensive rating is 12 out of 30 teams. We are 10 out of 30 in not allowing offensive rebounds. We are 13 out of 30 in fewest turnovers per 100 possessions. We are the second youngest team in the league with a winning record. And we all probably agree we haven't played particularly well. Certainly we haven't put together a complete game yet.

If we are gonna make a trade its got to be for a superstar player. Probably one on a losing team who is disgruntled. Right now there are two ... Kobe and Melo. I don't think either of those players makes a positive impact on our team. What we need to do is sit back and enjoy the ride this year with the team we have. Watch them grow and figure things out.

...and have you noticed how the 22 year old Bogdan is performing in Europe? Not impressive to say the least.

Why would you trade the Suns best and most popular player for a guy who just had his foot operated on and is out indefinitely? You cannot be serious.

Could have not said it better.

Every year we pick a player to dump on (this year we have 2 - Green and Plumlee), a player to promote when they are not ready (last year: Goodwin; this year: Warren) and players we absolutely have to trade for (this year the flavor of the day alternates between Noel, Hibbert, Horford, Afflolo and ____). When the team does not play up to expectations, everyone calls for the trade of whichever happens to infuriate them that day (Len, Morris , Bros, Bledsoe, Thomas, Green, Plumlee, and Dragic) often with the phrase "addition by subtraction.

And they always want that "star power forward" or that "star Center" but never identify just who those player are and why they would be available.

Then there those who, after 10 games want to rid the Suns of all of the young vets so we can play the not ready players and call it player development.

It is astonishing how little patience we have collectively.

Plumlee and Tolliver for Frye

It works under the cap.

Orlando takes a chance on Plumlee actually starting to play well again, and clears mega cap space in the process as Plumlee is only due $2 million next year (Tolliver is non guaranteed).

We lose about $6 million in cap room which hurts us in the free agent hunt, but we improve our interior defense and get a much needed insurance policy for Len.

I'd consider it. I bet Orlando would too if they drop out of the playoff hunt.

Thunder missing Durant and Westbrook has proven that they don't have dept at all.
Suns in the other hand are too deep and have log jams.

I think I've done a similar trade before but I'll add some changes. It's an NBA2K type trade lol.

Suns
In: Ibaka + Jackson
Out: Thomas + Morris + Morris + Ennis

Suns
C: Len / Plumlee
PF: Ibaka / Tolliver / Randolph
SF: Tucker / Green
SG: Dragic / Goodwin / Dragic
PG: Bledsoe / Jackson

Green + Jackson bench still legit punch.

Ibaka + Len would be fantastic.

Thunder would have to be desperate to do it lol.
But a deeper team so they can save more energy for harder/more intense playoff runs.

So, we are going to trade a player (Plumlee) away for a player (Frye) we could've had if we had wanted without giving up anything, but didn't, on a contract we didn't want, but now do? IDK, that doesn't sound very appealing to me. Had we desired to keep Frye on, for the amount he signed with Orlando, wouldn't we simply have done so to begin with? :-? So no, I'm not a fan...I'd rather try for a younger version of Frye, if one is available for trade. Frye, to me, doesn't make much sense, and hampers our flexibility for the next 3 years, by which time, he's what, 34?

I don't care about Tolliver, as he's not proven to be much of an asset for us, but thankfully, he was cheap and not guaranteed.

I'm going to save all the naysayers some time by posting the URL from page 4 on this thread to read...I've already suggested something similar, and it didn't go over well.

viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1351802&start=60

Read the posts following my post, and continue on to the next page for a few more. Basically, OKC would not be interested in trading Ibaka away, especially for unproven and/or mediocre talent. Yours is a bit more realistic, but still, unless we are trading away Bledsoe, and/or maybe Len, OKC wouldn't be interested.

Let the Cavs keep losing, and we can get a better deal.

To me, Bledsoe to the Cavs might make a lot of sense at some point, as long as it is Kevin Love coming back.

But hey, if we win tonight, we might just be starting to put this team together a little. I still think we need to trade a pg and I don't even mind that much if its Goran.

Whats the price tag on Ryan Anderson? He's on a deal that looks amazing next Frye's and is a lot younger. Surely the Pelicans value him as stretch for AD or Asik. I'm sure the lineup has been said a million times here already but it makes a lot of sense and looks more competitive than what we have now:

Bledsoe
Dragic
Tucker
Anderson
Len

But I guess the trade pieces don't really add up with Markieff being a power forward and Anthony Davis being...well, Anthony Davis. They probably wouldn't need Thomas either with Jrue Holiday.
