I don't think the adjustment period will take that long for the Cavs. Key difference between LeBron's Cavs team now vs. his first year with the Heat is that the latter was universally hated on. The Decision, then the pompous WWE rally they had, it was really easy to hate on the Heat. Fans booed regularly and teams brought their A game every night for the Heat.
I think without all these negative emotions swirling around, the Cavs will enjoy playing with one another and build up chemistry better.

People have very short memories, and stories get re-written very quickly, but this is the truth: Had Lebron stayed with the Heat, and the Heat probably make whatever moves they make to build around the big 3 again, the Heat would still be favorites to win the East and go to the finals. No question.
With the Cavs, it is way too early to tell. A bunch of unknowns. I genuinely do not believe Lebron went to Cleveland because he thought he'd have a better chance, I think he made that decision for personal reasons (but of course wanted to make sure he'd have a good chance at a finals there, too). The talent level is not much different -- The big reason people even say this is because of Wade's health, but we'll see how that plays out this year.
