Do you recognize how absurd it is to look at what we've done so far this season with our schedule and injuries and say Clifford is a below average coach, and then to rationalize your dismissal of our success last season as being solely because we weren't taken seriously?

There is no reason to assume that our defense can't perform at the same level as it did last season. It's not like Al wasn't a known quantity last season such that teams weren't aware of his limitations.

This team (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/stats/_/nam ... te-hornets) scored 93.4 ppg (101.5 offensive rating) with a pace of 91.5. They shot 42.5% from the floor and 33.5% from the 3 point line. Dunlap was in his first year coming from being a D3 college coach and the offense was ran through Kemba. The rest of the team was mostly complete trash offensively and were clearly still in tank/rebuild mode. We added Al last season and a much improved roster and coaching staff (http://espn.go.com/nba/team/stats/_/nam ... te-hornets) and scored 96.8 ppg (103.6 offensive rating) with a 92.4 pace. We shot 44.2% from the floor and 35.1% from deep. Despite Al scoring a ton of points our offensive has statistically barely improved with a wayy better overall roster and there really isn't any evidence to suggest that our offense has been much better under Alfense. Al scored 21.8 ppg but he and the system sucked nearly that much production out of the rest of the roster and the new acquisitions this season are experiencing a similar drop in production. I actually find it hard to believe that under a different system we couldn't do more than 2 ppg better than we did in 2012-2013. Unless all of our current players from that roster have regressed and our free agent signings/draft picks haven't actually given us a talent upgrade over the likes of Byron Mullens, Brendan Haywood, Hakim Warrick, Reggie williams, Diop, Corey Higgins, and Matt Carroll. We improved because our roster improved and our defense drastically improved. If we continue this season to score no more than we have in the last two seasons but we can't defend or a middle of the pack defensive team and our biggest defensive issue is clearly Al (although maybe more the Al/Marvin pairing) then he is just not worth it.

as lamar pointed out in his blog, jefferson looks a step slow on both ends, something the feel-o-meter has confirmed. anyone think that plantar injury slowed him down even further?

Nope. I think he just takes a couple months every season to work off all the burgers and fries. More seasons than not share that same trend.

maybe so, sportsvu cams show he is virtually identical to last year in terms of avg mph and avg distance traveled.

You can tell by watching he doesn't look like he did at the end of last season though. His post moves aren't even as quick and that's hurting his offense. His slowness on defense this season has been beaten to death so I don't think I need to say much more about that. It's the quickness more than the end-to-end speed.

That's a definite. The SportVU numbers I used in my blog prove it.

Just thinking of avg mph in regards to Al is hilarious. I bet his numbers are off the charts.

That sucks, a browser reset might fix that problem or something.

Why doesn't he just download another browser if that's the main problem...?

I'll look up what exactly did he say to me when he greeted me.

Funny part is that my Mozilla just can't seem to open HornetsPlanet.

Serious question. What would Al have to do to cause Clifford to even do something as small as sitting him for an extended stretch or closing a game with Cody or Biz at center? Lance and MKG will get benched for nearly an entire half for something as small as passing up a shot (MKG) and Kemba will occasionally get benched for significant stretches if his head isn't in the game. Meanwhile, Al generally has 5+ absolutely unacceptable defensive plays a game, gives the worst effort on the team, holds the ball longer than anyone, and continually ignores open teammates and yet he hasn't been pulled earlier than normal or held out longer than normal a single time this season. I can't even remember it happening last season. His minutes are lock clockwork no matter what he does.
