We´re 17th now.

attendance is up quite a bit from last season (more than 1500 fans) so its doing better. I think a new TV deal would help, people that would otherwise be Charlotte fans aren't because they cant watch the games. and more fans in NC/SC = better attendance probably. and of course being fun to watch would help and our team isn't very fun to watch right now.

I think its up league wide in general. Were still what? Around 20th or so?

Eh, I expected a lot better.

I just don't understand it. The name change, the colour change - that was meant to instantly make us a 50+ win team and give us sell outs every night.

Nothing to be confused about... The name change was a way to get Charlotte enthused about the team again and most importantly to make the team more profitable which would allow the team to be more competitive over a longer period of time... MJ would make money and not look at selling or relocating the team.

Mission accomplished! #2 in the NBA in new season ticket sells, most season ticket holders in the history of bobcats/Hornets 2.0, merchandise flying off the shelves and breaking team store sales records.

The team is no longer doing buy one season get another season free, also there are no $2 season tickets. The team didn't give away 10 dollar food credit or free parking with season tickets this year. The team has signed numerous new long term sponsorships, etc. etc. etc.

The name change was the best business decision the team has ever made... I don't think anyone could argue that.


As far as the atmosphere at the games, that's up to the team. The season opener during the 4th quarter comeback was as wild as any game at the old Hive that I ever went to.... But, when the team is getting blown out, what do u want the fans to do?

Also, the season is young, tons of basketball left.

If anyone thinks the name change was the wrong move... They either don't understand business, they are a dumbass, or both.

It wasn't a wrong move, but its just ridiculously over blown in my opinion. All the home games other than the home opener have been about the same as any other year. You are right in regards to sponsorships, etc, and it was indeed the right move.

After college football? It's hard to get it going any time. Especially when you haven't had a real team that can string two decent seasons together in about 15 years.

News came out today that the Charlotte Checkers are going to be moving their games to Bojangles Coliseum. Apparently both the Hornets and the Checkers are excited about this move and the flexibility it provides in scheduling events.
