Re: Bruno Caboclo discussion thread
I wonder what the Milwaukee locker room was like after the game.
"What the hell just happened and who the hell is Bruno???"
They ALL know who Bruno is now.
By the way, do you guys think it would be over the top if at random times in the game we just show Bruno love?

We should really consider sending Bruno to the D-League team the Philadelphia 76ers so that he can get more playing time and reps.

I think it is best with they stayed with the team and practice the set. The issue they have is, they are not spacing correctly, where a set is meant to help creating space and scoring opportunity.

I've seen the Bucks hesitating and second guessing themselves on whether or not they should have made a pass with Bruno around in the area. And while I hate hate HATE how he's always helping one pass away, it's pretty astonishing that he still gets up and contests the shot all because his arms are so damn long.
It's a bit of an exaggeration that he always helps one pass away. He does have a tendency to roam leaving his man open on the weak side (second and third play in the clip), but usually its with the proper intention to stop the screener tumbling down the lane or to wall off penetration. His biggest weakness defensively is knowing where to be after he provides help. Watch how in the first play he does an excellent job of bumping Henson on the roll. Bucks run a flare action for Dudley when they can't get Henson the ball, and Patterson rotates to prevent the shot and the drive off of the closeout. Bruno is completely lost on the flight of the pass when he should be rotating over to Ilyasova. He'll improve on this with more experience.

Good write up. He was lost defensively, but I went back and watched the 4th quarter again, and even with his awful defensive IQ at this point, you could tell he's already disruptive on defense. There was a set where Bruno got his hand on the ball, 3 times I think. And a couple other situations where his length was disruptive (block obviously). He just needs to learn where to be for now .

Private Messaged this to BrunoSkull about how I met Bruno at the Hershey Centre where Mississauga Power had their season opener because I was there mascot and how a kid from the front row seat asked me to get his hat signed by Bruno.
Here's the quote I sent....

You probably seen my post and that I'm a huge Bruno Caboclo fan. As he wears my favourite number #5. and I see potential in him in the long run for the Raptors. Also made that photoshop of his face with MJ Space Jam dunking half court when someone asked somebody to photoshop his face to that movie lol.
The reason I'm talking to you is how I was excited when he was finally revealed along with Bebe (Lucas Nogueira) that epic game yesterday. Plus I don't mind saying is how I met Bruno but not Bebe at the Hershey game home opener. I was the mascot for the Power team and a kid at the front seats asked me to get his Raptor hat signed by Bruno.
Couldn't find him as inside the mascot it is hard to see till I saw a dude with a blue cap talking on his phone. That brought smile to my faceeven though I was inside the mascot sweating as I dance in that suit, and he is so nice. But damm his wingspan signing that hat made that kids' day, myself and as well the Mississauga Power staff didn't expect him and Lucas to watch that game.

I'd honestly rather him sit on Casey's lap and soak in defensive responsibility. The guy has fantastic defensive instincts, he just literally has no idea where he is supposed to be on the court. He was playing with effort on the defensive end which was nice.

Bruno just needs to run around flapping his arms and he's disruptive.

Re: Bruno Caboclo discussion thread
What I'm most excited about with Bruno are his closeouts. His athleticism is kind of weird; it's great in some areas and lacking in others. His lateral quickness doesn't seem the best. Though where he excels is in jumping off of two feet. He can get to spots quickly and just jump straight up, and he gets a lot of air too. That in combination with his long arms is going to make him an elite close out defender when he eventually fills out.

I wonder how much he can improve athletically with proper NBA training? because his potential is scary if he improves his lateral quickness and adds strength to go along with improved court awareness .

Re: Bruno Caboclo discussion thread
They should experiment with zone defense with JJ and Bruno. They can cover the corner and wing easily. With JV and Bebe in the interior that could be shut down.

Going out on a (long) limb: Bruno at the 4
Now, boys and girls, don't hate. I haven't post here in years... I think it's pretty clear our weakest spot is the 4 where Amir is perfect but increasingly unreliable. The league is also going in the stretch power-forward route. Enter Bruno, roughly the same size as Amir and very raw (thus malleable). Shall we mold him into our PF of the future?
Pros:
- 3 ball already there
- Lack of lateral quicks shouldn't be a problem against 4s
- Has the best to learn from (Amir + Hayes)
- Can extend Amir's career coming from the bench
- Should provide decent weak side help with those long arms
- Coexists perfectly with Yonas (doesn't share the same space on the court)
Cons:
- Weak, could be easily post up by bigger 4s (can start Amir on such nights)
Thoughts?

Re: Going out on a (long) limb: Bruno at the 4
He would have an insane advantage if he could play the 3. If that project fails, 4 should be a fall back. If you develop him to be a 4 right now, there is no turning back.
