Boban Marjanovi?

hi, I want to know if his contract will expire after this season.
He should try NBA after his contract expires. I guess it will take 1 year before he become starter in average team or important backup on contender.

I would love to see him in Suns uniform, can be good rim protector. He is 7'3'' or 7'4'', and very agile for his height. Is solid free throw shooter and most important, he can finish close to basket (a lot of really big guys are looking ridicioulus under the rim, but not Marjanovic). He also has talents to develop mid-range game

Boban is a great player for the Euroleague level of basketball, but i don`t see him in the NBA. IMO, he is too slow for the NBA. I'm sure, he will change the team, but not the continent (Turkey excluded).

His team Crvena Zvezda plays one of fastest tempo in euroleague...

If he find right team for him, he can be OK. He was undrafted so he can choose team (if there will be interest). Imagine him in couple years if he had a mentor in Marc Gasol on Memphis. I think he would become really good player.

Yes, Red Star play really fast.... but, it's because of other players, not because of Boban.

However, that's not what I meant when I wrote that he is too slow for the NBA (misunderstanding is probably a result of my poor english ). The point is that he has a problem to defend faster and explosive players even in Europe, and it will be much harder in the NBA, primarily because of the rules defensive three-seconds. Also, there is a lot more faster players in the NBA than in Europe.

If I'm not mistaken, he was in squad of Atlanta Hawks in the summer league....

I think he's better suited to European basketball and I expect to see him in one of the top European clubs.

He is not better than Ajinça and look at his performance in the league. NBA rules (not level, Sabonis had NBA All-Star level, but the NBA rules made him run more than he was used to) would kill Bobi. I'm sure he has a spot in the league as a specialist in the same way a shooter that can't defend has it. But not as an important player.

I agree Ajinca is better, but i think Ajinca is a buried gem in the league. With more minutes, I think he would blossom into really good NBA player.

Ajinca's main problem seems to be that he fouls way too much. Hard to give a guy more minutes when he averages 6.8 fouls per 36.

BTW, I can see Marjanović being very Hamed Haddadi-esque if he came to the NBA. That's not to say he'd be bad, but he'd have a pretty limited niche and teams would be reluctant to give him decent minutes.

Considering population, there seems to be an inordinate amount of really huge big men come out of there over time (particularly Serbia). Seems like the majority of freakish 7'1"+ bigs over the last 20 years or so in international basketball has originated from this area of the world.

I really liked Ajinça before he went to the NBA. In fact, I wanted Real Madrid to sign him desperately. But I think NBA rules are not made for giants.

I find it fascinating that a group of people or a race can be so physically gifted in one area (height), yet so average/unremarkable beyond that (athleticism, body shape, muscle, etc.). I suppose every 7-footer can't be Dwight Howard all over

You do realize that Marjanovic is 27 years old? He can still improve and this is his best season so far, but mostly - he is what he is.

Having said that I think he has a chance in the NBA as a backup big that can change the game a bit coming in from the bench.

Yes without the shoes. Im 181 cm and I was one of the shorter guys in elementary school I was 5/14 (9 taller guys) and in high school I was 5/12 (7 taller guys). And now it seems the kids are even more taller then in my time. Out of 10/15 male guys age 20-25 at least 2 have 2m.
Also since my familly is originaly from Herzegovina I must add that most of the people 20-30 yo that I know and that are from there (in my city who are from that region) are 185-200 cm. I feel so undersized around them.
