The Clippers were losing heading into the 4th and Crawford had 14 in the 4th quarter it shouldn't be a surprise he is the player of the game .

Crawford is now shooting 51% from the field on the road and 43% from three and averaging 20 ppg .Hes greatly underappreciated in Clipperland judging by this voting .

... or you didn't even watch the game and making your judgement from the score box. let's completely disregard Jamal taking on three defenders to miss a layup while his teammates are wide open for a corner 3. let's completely disregard his total lack of concern for defense, rebounding, passing, or any care in the world managing shot clock. oh, and let's not be bothered with his absolutely unnecessary backcourt violation to bring the Pistons back within a striking distance with less than a minute to go.

yeah, let's forget all that and just shoot the damn ball. great.

I actually saw the game and it seems to me that you are simply ripping jamal for any and every mistake he makes despite him being being one of the Clippers best players this year . Hes been the best player on the road by far .

Jamal had the backcourt violation but he also had a block before that and a steal after that is that not defense ?

25 pts 3 boards 4 assists 2 steals and a block on 50% shooting and 14 points in the 4th off the bench is not simply shooting .

By your comments obviously if jamal doesn't play its a blowout because he really stunk up the joint

okay, cool. you think that highly of Jamal and i don't.

so i make a proposal. for a couple of your spare parts, you can have the GREAT JAMAL all for yourself. as i see it, your bulls refused to talk contract extension with Jimmy Butler and it probably means he will either be traded or just let go at the end of his contract. so what do you say, Mike Dunleavey JR and Jimmy Butler for yours truly?

I'll be waiting.

Jamal has been FAR from the best player on the team this season, on the road or otherwise. And I think most of us who see every Clipper game agree with that. Neddy explained it pretty well already, but I'll just add that one timely steal and a block don't equal playing good defense, team defense in the NBA is far more complicated than that. Even Doc laughed at those two possessions meaning Jamal is a good defender in the post-game interview:

Doc Rivers was asked the kind of question most would give a half-hearted answer to, no matter what they thought.
But before Wednesday’s game, the Clippers coach was in an honest mood.
“Is he an underrated team defender?” Rivers was asked about Jamal Crawford.
After a brief pause for dramatic effect, Rivers blurted out the two-letter answer he knew would get a laugh.
“No.”
But after his team’s 104-98 victory over the Pistons, Rivers knew he had to do the right thing.
“I’ve got to apologize,” Rivers said. “Can you ask the question one more time?”
After watching Crawford come up with a key block and a key steal in the last 1:18, he needed another shot.
“I think he’s the best defensive player we have,” Rivers said laughing. “I stand corrected. I apologize.”

Jamal is great if you just look at surface stuff like scoring, raw assists numbers, etc. If you watch plays carefully and focus on defensive mishaps, he's often the main culprit of the defensive breakdown. If you break down offensive possessions, the ones where he initiates the defense have a much lower PPP rate than the rest.

and Ill say it again you bring up any stats you want but do the Clippers win this game without jamal ?

CP and Blake scored one basket each in 4th. No one is arguing jamal is some sort of defensive force but a steal is considered a good defensive play as is a block it doesn't mean you are a great defender all the time but it certainly means that you played defense on that possession .

Considering this was a thread about the star of the game Do you think if they asked Doc if they win this game without jamal that he would agree ? I dont .

As I said before the notion that somehow jamal being voted player of the game being absurd is why I responded because his play certainly backed up the reason why they chose him regardless of if some choose to sit back and cherry pick every mistake.
