Re: OT: Sioux Falls Skyforce
So this Whiteside dude grabbed 16 rebs against our front court which contained Birch, so I'm guessing thats why they want him lol
Guess we cutting Dawkins?
whats weird is we got Hamilton... so we ain't gonna use him?

That's **** amazing.
I swear we had long ass discussion about this dude 3 years ago, he did nothing since, and now we get him. Crazy.
Really weird move. We're going to cut someone for him? Wonder what kind of contract that is.

A 10 day contract of course. My guess is that we cut Dawkins.

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

In two games with the Energy this season, he’s averaging 21 points, 15.5 rebounds and 6 blocks.

If Whiteside is coming in and Hamilton is also cut, they would bring in Johnson (or Seth Curry from Erie) rather than Birch from Sioux Falls, but I seriously doubt they will cut Hamilton.

That can't be right. NBA teams can assign 4 to their D-League team.
Khem Birch
Larry Drew II
Tyler Johnson
Shawn Jones
That's 4.
Johnson & Birch are the only ones with contracts, but that shouldn't matter.

Hmm thts a good point. Didnt it seem like they liked Hamilton before he got injured? Heat have to find ONE big man again, they always try and eventually will be rewarded.

Re: OT: Sioux Falls Skyforce
I think the Heat remain happy with Hamilton and I would suspect that he will be kept past December. You really cannot have too many big players in basketball, right? Hamilton and Whiteside are different in nearly every way. Hamilton has a much better jump shot (edit: ha ha ha - idiot! you know nothing Gom) and Whiteside is better on the boards. Whiteside does look like Deandre Jordan in that D-League video with his domination of the rim and he is fast getting back. Hamilton can also develop into a very good player. It would be nice to have them both. And... we don't really need Andre Dawson. He's a luxury at this point. For my part, I would have kept Tyler Johnson instead, but it's better for him to play in the D-League every game (30+ minutes) rather than be a bench warmer with us.

Whiteside vs Birch
Birch should be a PF, not a Center. He reminds me of all those energetic PFs off the bench that grab all the rebounds. Birch does everything, is involved on the offense, elbow jumpers. He is not our answer at Center, but he is a good rebounder most definitely. He's relentless.
He was getting rebounds over Whiteside and scored on him even. Whiteside backed down Birch and you can see the size advantage... I think thats why the Heat are intrigued.
Whiteside didn't really impress me on the glass. He can score inside and can throw around his weight. I'm guessing thats what the Heat like.
There were guards and Birch who would outwork Whiteside for rebounds, offensive rebounds. LMAO our DLeague team is way better at rebounding than us, in terms of effort... even some 6 foot guard got a rebound over Whiteside. Dat effort.
Obviously just 1 game, but Heat nabbed him cause he's a big dude. He can finish inside for sure. They will probably sit him out and try to mold him, then release him like all the other projects lmao.

Dude is a PF actin like a C, who can't play C that well cause he's too thin.
hope he is on the roster next year
then again our PF position is cooped up for the next few years with McBob, Williams (unless small ball dies), UD

Re: OT: Sioux Falls Skyforce
This is actually very good developmental work by the Miami HEAT so far. At the moment, the team has Tyler Johnson, Shawn Jones, Khem Birch, and Larry Drew II down in the D-League receiving direct training from Miami's coaching staff, and Miami still has Hassan Whiteside and White #7 to work with on the main roster along with Andre Dawkins.
We're actually developing guys right now!
PG: Shabazz Napier | Larry Drew II
SG: Andre Dawkins | Tyler Johnson
SF: James Ennis | Fuquan Edwin
PF: Khem Birch | Shawn Jones
C: White #7 | Hassan Whiteside
This is real!

Re: OT: Sioux Falls Skyforce
So Hamilton already has two nicknames?
In addition to what we already have on the roster, I'd also like to see Johnson and Birch. Drew II can pass the rock quite okay too. That might be too many youngsters for one team that wants to contend very soon, but who knows what will happen over time. At least now we can say we have some youngbloods with upside and something to look forward to.

McBob shares the same mentality.
Another D-Leaguer we should consider signing.

We would have to give up Andre Dawkins. Dawkins is a good shooting guard prospect, a good 3 point shot, and little defending. I would like to think Dawkins's game will become crucial to us, Ray Allen like crucial, but frankly I can't see that happening.
Manny Harris is a shooting guard, 25 years old, who played very well at Michigan. He plays now for the L.A. Defenders. He has previous stints with the Lakers and the Cavaliers. He is 6'5", 185 lbs according to BB ref:
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Manny-Harris-5047/
He is not a newcomer and I'm sure you have seen him before:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcbFMy94ao8
His draft report from 2010:
http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Manny-Harris-5047/
What you may not know is how he is playing this year in the D-League:
1. He has apparently improved his 3 point shot (always a problem) and is hitting 44%
2. Scoring 27 ppg (down from last years 31 ppg)
3. His fg percentage and 3 p fg percentage have improved because he is making the same number of shots in fewer attempts. This indicates his shot selection strategies have improved.
Real GM stats:
http://basketball.realgm.com/player/Man ... mmary/2279
One problem that he has is the A/TO ratio. He won't create many plays. He is quite likely better than Dawson however.
Anyway, aside from making 3 point shots, he is a consummate slasher wing player that is fast across the floor. In games where we don't have Wade, I think he is a good option. He fits Tyler Johnson's role but he is ready to contribute.
Here is a report saying he will not succeed as an NBA player:
