Sessions

Post#1 » by Kings2013 » Tue Dec 2, 2014 12:40 am

What a difference a couple of months makes. A month or two ago I think many of us literally thought we had a top notch back up pg on our hands, now he is just a hangnail to the roster and organization. The reasons for the loss in his game can be debated. To me, it is just not a mental hurdle because he also doesn't play adequate D and does things IMO that are born of lack of effort. A theory I heard is that he may be unhappy that he wasn't given the starting position, and felt affronted by that, so he checked out. What I do know is that this situation needs to be handled, now.

I mentioned this is the other thread, and this is how I personally feel about this from here on out. I personally believe that the average NBA coach would not continue to play Sessions from today on. That if you took some type of poll, the typical response would be to go away from Sessions. So if I believe that a normal NBA coach would not play Sessions, how Sessions affects the team I will unfortunately have to fault to Malone to a degree. I've enjoyed Michael's work overall so its unfortunate that it has to come to this. No more 6-8 point losses with Sessions playing like azz. I don't want Malone hindering the team by utilizing a player that can't be counted on if that is the case.

Either way, I'm tired of talking about Sessions. He needs to be dealt with or have a miraculous recovery, now

Sessions has brought nothing to the table so far.

His, so called, strength is attacking the basket, which pretty much consists of of throwing up shots and hoping to get the whistle. Even if he wants to score, all of his close shots are a foot short.

He doesn't put any effort on defense and he is walking TO waiting to happen.

I seen enough of Sessions already.

This is one thing I don't understand, and maybe those who adhere to this idea can shed some light.

I hear that a reason Malone shouldn't make the switch is because he doesn't want to lose Sessions. My question is why does a benching mean losing a player? Why doesn't that mean the player benched be angry about being benched and work his butt off to get back into the rotation? Why does player benched mean that he gives up for the rest of the season?

In Jason Jones 12/2 article today on Sessions Malone all but confirmed he's going to give Sessions more time to get comfortable in the backup role.. As I said anything Sessions does from here on out I will personally hold some responsibility to Malone. If you leave matches in the reach of a child and the child (invalid bball player) burns the house down to me it's on the adult. It also suggests a lack of confidence in Ray's game to say the least

Sessions is what he is and he was never a good fit from the day he was signed. With that said, he's better at what he's looked terrible at so far. He's always been inconsistent but he's a scorer through and through. I'd still like to see he and Ray in the backcourt. It would take pressure off of Sessions to handle the ball and he could play off of it more and just worry about attacking when he has a chance.

I don't really know what to think about this but I can hypothesize. Firstly, I have no idea how any coach could have a lack of confidence in Ray McCallum. Yes, he's young, but he knows how to play the game the right way and isn't a liability defensively. Sessions has never been anything to write home about defensively. Shocker that he's looked average to below average there... not. If you wanted to make a distinction about the situation it could very well be a difference of idea of philosophy between the coach and GM. McCallum was a D'allesandro pick. Perhaps Sessions was a Malone pick? Well, as much as I think this teams turn around is because of Malone, give credit where credit is due, D'allesandro picked a good one with Ray. Hopefully Malone realizes that sooner than later.

Sessions was, is, and will always be a bad fit, but he can do better at what he's capable of than he is right now. Maybe a change of role could get something positive from him. We'll see.
