TyCobb wrote:They don't use him enough in real life, which shows in fantasy numbers. Hell, even McDaniels has a higher usage rate than Ross. Ross is a lights out shooter and super athletic. He's a shorter Gerald Green.

You will NOT be posting up respectable numbers playing along side DeRozan with his freakish usage rate.

Use him how exactly?

I think the Raptors have maximized his talents to the fullest, while hiding his short comings, without hurting their team. He doesn't get a lot of plays run through him because the Raptors don't demand that from him.

He's basically there to play D and space the floor for their to guards when slashing.

Basically the role is tailor made for him since he lacks the ball handling capabilities or play making to tackle on any more complex offensive role. But it also means it hinders his potential because he's never going to be more than a 3 and D guy on the Raptors.

Fantasy wise, 3's and low TO are really the only thing worth noting. Since 11 PPG isn't hard to replace and a minuscule FT rate of 1.0 isn't anything to write home about either.

Ross is a SG being asked to play SF. They even started Vasquez at the 2 against the Lakers while DeRozan is out like idiots. Ross needs get screens called for him, plays run for him, instead of having him float at the 3 point line while Lowry chucks 25+ shots. Lou Williams and Lowry are both scoring guards. Then you add a healthy DeRozan and they have ball dominant scoring guards. On this current Raptors team Ross would be better suited coming off the bench with a distributor like Vasquez.

I think the Raptors end up trading Ross this season as he is too small and weak to guard small forwards.

3 point shooters that aren't real off the dribble threats are not going to get plays called for them...

TyCobb wrote:He's ranked 87 right now by Yahoo. Just don't see how he is a scrub. Regardless, I don't think he's reached his potential (Ross), but in the meantime he isn't hurting my team and is helping in key targeted categories for me (3's, FT%, low TO's, PTS).

hes not a scrub but hes definitely not as valuable as his ranking is, simply because the stats hes giving you are easy to get. his ft% would be a lot more valuable if he actually got to the line, even redick gets to the line more than him...

his lack of steals really holds him back from being a good fantasy option.

im a big fan of Ross in real life though, hes definitely being played out of position and he has a lot more potential to produce. he'll never do anything though as long as Derozan and Lowry are there, they are too high usage.

TO's almost always go up with USG% if your name isnt Chris Paul.

TO's only go up with how often you handle the ball, if Ross is still played off ball his turnovers wont go up enough to be noticeable. might not even go up at all, hes just needs more plays called for him.

All those super high usage low turnover non ball handler players, guys like Gerald Green or w/e play like 20 minutes a game and their per36 TO's are higher and not where you'd want your efficient low turnover players to be.

of course their per36 TO's are higher you **** idiot, it just assumes that you would average the same rate of turnovers over 36 minutes which is not always true. just look at kyle korvers numbers, his TOV% has never correlated with his USG% and hes a similar level of off ball player.

Historic day for team KJG - for first time ever I have enough players healthy playing on the same day that I can actively choose which ones to bench!
