Hawks Starting 5 among TOPS in NBA This Season

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Tue Dec 2, 2014 5:52 pm

I was reading an article over at SI.COM about the hot start of GS Warriors when they presented a table listing the most effective lineups in the NBA. I was pleasantly surprised to see that we were on this list:

Below, you'll find the NBA’s top 10 lineups by net rating this season. In other words, these five-man groups have outperformed their opponents by the widest margin this year. Note: minimum 150 minutes played; all stats through Nov. 30 via NBA.com/stats.

With an OFF Rating of 115.3 and a DEF Rating of 107.5, our NET rating of +7.8 is currently 6th in the NBA among lineups with at least 150 minutes played.

As CLE improves defensively and WAS gets a healthy Beal back into the rotation, I expect both teams to move up this list. But the fact we're here speaks volumes to Bud's coaching (and Ferry's team composition.)

Another impressive note: We're tops in the entire Eastern Conference with the above lineup.

Which is a bit perplexing considering our record...currently 9-6 and fourth in the playoffs.

I'm guessing Carroll missing 3(?) games has something to do with the ranking vs our position in the conference. Plus our losses by less than 3 points.
