Joe had a monstrous second half. He asserted himself and dominated. Dat leadership!

^^ wow that's embarassing

Good win, way to fight and close it out.

Brook looked way better last night, Joe asserted himself on this game when he was needed, and Deron is continuing to have a renaissance.

Jarrett Jack should NOT be allowed to play a single minute of basketball in the 4th quarter anymore. He's such a liability on defense.

The fan with the prosthetic leg must have really been obnoxious for them to have no regard to his handicap-- carrying him out like a kid having a temper tantrum. That's crazy.

As for the game- they beat the knix which is always good--but that is a bad team right now. I cannot get too excited.

Brooke did look more aggressive than she normally does. It's just hard for me to watch sometimes because the display of lumbering to the basket appears awkward motion-like.
OKC Thunder fan, too.

This was a good win... we arent going to win many vs anyone over .500, so we need to take care of business vs the bad teams. Plus it is always good for our local stock to beat the knicks. plus, their fans are biothes so its nice to shove it in their faces.

as far as the game, we got great efforts from our top 3 guys. but im not going to go overboard since we were playing a trash team defensively.

BROOK - really liked what i saw for the most part outside of a few possesions. was not optomistic after he took a 20 foot jumper early in the clock on our first possesion. but after that he didnt settle and really attacked the hoop. needs to do that and that only. id perfer him never shooting outside the paint if possible. when he shoots in the paint, he is much much more useful. i HATED how he took 2 long jumpers early in the clock once the knicks cut it to 7 with 3 minutes to go. i know he hit the first one but thats a bad shot. we should have ran something, burned more time and tried to get a better look. overall the teams bbiq late was tuuuurrrible.

JOE - played great. forget the scoring, he really did a great job on the boards and a solid job on carmello. also was great finding open teammates and hit big free throws at the end. he looked engaged and upbeat for the first time in a while

DERON - looked god in general. would have liked him to try and go at calderon a bit more but his jumper was falling so thats fine. He was dribling with a purpose and in general going toward the rim and moving the ball. i did hate how he kept helping of calderon and larkin. that made me want to punch the wall :)

HOLLINS - not sure what he said but we seemed more focused. like how he played more plumlee at the 4, helped us rebounding and he had some big hustle moments. no plumlee iso's either, which is nice

BOGS - dude has been awesome. digs in on defense and is always moving well without the ball. if he can stay away form the early offense YOLO threes he will be really good. that catch in finish in transition in the 3rd quarter was a sneak hard play to make.

I like having jack in late... he is easily our best gaurd at getting to the rim and getting in the lane. i agree his defense lacks, but i mean overall our defense is trash, id prefer to at least have a guy who can get in the paint late in games. at least until we show we have a 5 man unit that can consistently get stops.

does it matter if he watches us lose by 70 up close or from the bench? :banghead:

only thing that stinks about this win is we cant build much off it with the spurs coming up next and a gauranteed loss.

December is a brutal month. looking at the schedule i cant see how we go into the new year better then 12-18

games vs:

Spurs, Cavs x2, bulls x2, Hawks, Heat, Raptors

even the winnable games are tough: kings, nuggets, celtics....

its better then 10-21, but still really burying us early on again

Even if we lose to the Spurs, if the Nets can carry over some of the positive things we saw from them as a whole last night against a good team that will be a good sign.

Joe's play especially. Whatever discussion Hollins had with him seemed to work. From what I heard yesterday he let the guys know that he's only being hard on them because he wants them to succeed and Lionel and Joe had a discussion about Joe's role. Joe needs to play every game like he played last night.

Deron to me has been awesome this season. he is the last Net that should be blamed for our poor start.

The Nets need to fight. I don't care who they play. they need to fight and show up and play hard. That's all I ask. If they lose, let it be because of a talent disparity and not because of effort. There is no excuse to ever be blown out.

I cant say that deron has been awesome. has he been better then last year? sure. but he really has just been an above average PG to this point. which is good cause it could be alot worse. but 'awesome'? i cant say that. not with him being inconsistent getting in the lane, not really creating a ton of offense for his teammates. and his D being average.

his effort has been really solid. but he isnt playing anywhere near an all-star level like the dwill 2nd half of 2013

I agree. id be happy with high effort regardless of result. but with such a mentally weak team having a string of losses after a good win can really be deflating

Just watched the DVR and some thoughts...

-Best game by the big 3 all year. We need that every night.

-Bogdanovic played 40 mpg and was great other than a couple rookie mistakes on D. His hustle and ability to cut to the basket and run is the best on the team. This was also one of his best road games, though he didn't have to travel.. perhaps that affects him?

-Something got into Lopez. His best game all year on O and D. Loved seeing him attack the rim. If he is going to take that 20 foot stand still shot, hopefully he keeps making them. It keeps defenses honest and if they rush at him he showed the willingness to attack the rim, but I'd like to see it less admittedly.

-Brook in the 1st, JJ in the 2nd. I like that pattern. Sure teams can adjust to Lopez at the half, but it means the game plan may have changed on someone else.. like JJ. It also allows one player to focus their energy on offense one half at a time as to not tire out.

-Not sure who I dislike more at times.. Jack or Anderson. At least Anderson can play D and doesn't always chuck (sometimes he does), while Jack only jacks and doesn't play D. Please trade both these guys along with AK if needed to get some better perimeter depth. Or at least play Guitterez next to Jack to mask his D and allow Jack to be a SG which he plays like.

-Plumlee had a great game and I like seeing him next to Brook since that may be a preview of next year. He helps on the boards and I like his D at the PF position. The attention Brook gets opens up the game for Plumlee as well.

-Teletovic has been invisible as of late. Not sure what's up with him. We need him to play well to beat a decent team.

Overall, while I would have liked to see us blow out the Knicks when we had them down 16 in the third, there is valuable experience in closing out a team on the road.

Finally.. F MSG for the way they treated Gamberlo. I wasn't a huge fan of his, but I am now.

I dont want lopez shooting that 20 footer. I disagree that it 'keeps defenses honest'. it doesnt, the same way KG taking that shot doesnt. bigs shoting long jumpers doesnt space the floor if the defense gives you that shot and isnt closing out hard on it.

teams give KG that pick and pop long 2 every time... they arent switching on it or giving space that allows williams to more easily get to the rim. same with lopez, other then dalembert running at him like an idiot last night teams are giving lopez that longer jumper without closing out on it or switching it on the pick and pop.

you only really benefit from floor spacing/bigmen shooting when they shoot it out to 3 point range. otherwise teams are happy to let your bigs shoot the worst shot in basketball at a 45-48% clip(or in lopez case a 38% clip)

According to witmesses including Knick fans, he was cheering during the stretch the knicks were down 16 and the security told him to "be quiet" and they also dropped him on his head after being carried out.

They are looking at a potential lawsuit now. Just another example of the poor and disgraceful professionalism at MSG.

Lopez needs to catch the ball off of cuts and dunk it. I don't want him posting up or shooting J's.

I also want More of Lopez/Plumlee

The irony is that I heard he used to be a season-ticket holding Knicks fan.
