Who is your favorite Hawk and why?

Post#1 » by GRADEN » Sun Nov 30, 2014 8:41 pm

Could be a player on another team too... Or a retired player etc...

Growing up watching JR was amazing for me so I have to give a nod to him for my childhood... I actually went to az for his rafters game and he got emotional again lol.

In today's world I love Hossa for many reasons.... My wife grew up on the other side of the mountain from him in Polska so she loves him.... His game is unlike any other in his lower body strength combined with puck skill. He is a true 2-way power forward and maybe one of the few to boast the numbers he has over his HOF career. Jamie Benn is about as close as it comes to the type of player he was but still far off.

Toews, Keith, and Hjalmarson round out my other favorites.

I enjoy watching Tarasenko, Pavel the great, and Tavares to list some players I admire in the league.... Tavares and Toews... Two best captains in hockey because they lead in soooo many ways.

Favorite all time is Stan Mikita.

Favorite current is Kaner. Just so exciting to watch. Every time he touches the puck greatness can happen.

Hossa is also one of my favorite all time players. So is JR.

I moved to Boulder, CO the year before the Nordiques did and became the Avs. Got to see almost all of Peter Forsberg's career. He's my favorite non Hawk of all time.

Growing up, there were a lot of Hawks I remember well, Bobby Hull, Pit Martin, Keith Magnuson, Jim Pappin, Cliff Koroll, Chico Maki. I loved those teams when I was a kid.

I live in a place where there are a ton of kings and sharks fans... They are all idiots to put it nicely

Sergei Fedorov is my favourite player of all-time. I just loved watching him play. My favourite current player though is Jonathan Toews. I love the way he plays, but also the leadership, toughness, grit and work ethic that he displays every time he steps on the ice.

U know it's funny Everytime I talk Hawks with someone whom I'd say is like novice hockey inclined I describe Toews and Kane the same way..... Kane is a pure talent and Toews is a worker that continually builds his game... And combined they are the greatest player that ever lived lol. Seriously that is how I see Kane, just a massive offensive puck wizard that is equally skilled in both the pass and the shot.... However he is one side of a coin whereas Toews is both sides just not quite as elite as Kane in skill. Toews simply goes to work everyday as if it were game 7.

In terms of pure skill I've never seen anything like Pavel though.... Similar to Kane in some ways for sure except his mid ice game is light years ahead and his two way is better too. The guy is just amazing.
