It is exaggerated and even if it was probably some kind of irony, I have to agree with parts of what he is saying...
- Best shooter of the roster
- should be more involved in offense
- is committed in defense (Not saying that he actually succeeded to defend, but he was putting some good effort, compared to some of our other players).
Our MVP was the actual MKG until he was out.

Re: The Marvin Gaye Williams Thread
The problem is we need a high post playmaker to make Clifford's offensive scheme work. I think mgmt thought Lance would take some of the playmaking burden so that they could bring in Marvin simply to fill the shooter role. Cody Zeller unfortunately is not a good passer. While @yosemiteben gets upset whenever we mention McRoberts, the point is not that we should pine for him back - yes we know he chose to leave and is not coming back - but that mgmt failed to refill his role as high post facilitator, a role that it now appears was crucial to Coach's scheme.
We simply have no one who can do this (McRoberts, last night) sort of thing:

Re: The Marvin Gaye Williams Thread
Wasn't simply referring to showboat passing. I know Lance specializes in doing things in fancy ways. Talking about playmaking out of the high post. That first vid, the "air circus" pass, is closest, though no screen involved. Cliff seems to like to have someone posted at the free throw line to facilitate. Zeller spends a lot of time there, just not really a passer. Lance more on the wings when he doesn't have the ball. Maybe Cliff should try switching Zeller and Lance? Let Lance playmake from the foul line and Zeller shoot from the elbow? Oh, nvm.

To get it back related to Marvin, I wish we would see more PNR game from Lance and Kemba with Marvin as the big. He is pretty much the only guy on our roster capable of pick and pop threes but we rarely use him as a threat. I wish he had a total green light to shoot. His %'s are above our team averages anyway so I don't see what the harm would be.

That falls on coaching. If you have a guy shooting like Marvin is and a big who sets terrible screens like Al why would you not adjust. They keep letting Al set his weak screens and we get nothing but wasted time out of them. Coaching needs to adjust to make use of what we have vs what we had last season. We are trying to run the same thing with different pieces. The adjustments should not take this long.

Re: The Marvin Gaye Williams Thread
Didn't see the game last night but did see this clip this morning.
Talk about horrible body language. Check out Marv at the 1:07 mark. Sets soft screen, rolls out to the three point line (shocker that he might be there right? It's not like he does ANYTHING different) and then throws his arms up AND looks at the bench in frustration that the ball didn't come back to him EVEN THOUGH Hobe made the nice finger roll basket.

Conversely look at Neal's response to the Hobe made basket.
It looks terrible on Marv's behalf.
Could Marvin be the team chemistry killer? No doubt we played a LOT better when he was out.

Or was he throwing his hands up because he thought Hendo was fouled. If you watch he looks at a ref and then when the whistle is blown puts his hands down. Also the five Hendo gets there is from Williams. He was likely calling for an And1 for Henderson.

Yeah I was thinking the same, I would doubt Marv is the Chemistry killer, he looks like a very cool guy and high character guy.

Re: The Marvin Gaye Williams Thread
Marv ain't no chemistry killer. He's just mediocre and not good enough to be a starter on a winning team, nor is he worth over half of the contract we're currently paying him but he's not a chemistry killer. He's just a okay backup SF/PF that shouldn't play more than 20 minutes a night.

there we go. Marvin seems like the consummate professional. Sure, he sucks at basketball and isn't McBob by any stretch of the imagination, but I stand by the argument that losing McBob was the biggest blow to the team's chemistry- not any signing we made this summer.

It was good we had Marv against the Knicks. When Melo was roasting Cody we would have lost had that kept up.

Marvin's shot chart this season:

Only non-positive is his shooting from the top of the arc. Yikes.
We need to be running more of our offense through Marvin. I like him starting with Biz over Cody.

He's playing better because he's not being called upon to guard starting PFs. I'd keep Marvin in the role he is presently in.
Marvin should stick to corner threes.

So you're just going to ignore the fact that he's been our best, most consistent shooter? He's shooting 40% on threes from the wing. Maybe he's better at more than corner threes.
