Lets say we are lucky enough to have to choose between the two. Who do you go with?

I really like Towns but you just cant pass up on Okofor. He's the consensus number one pick. The only way you pick towns is if its a trade down situation where you can get Towns and then someone later on in the first. I think Towns is way more versatile in that he can play either big position giving you options in free agency to take either a C or PF. But then again, when it comes to low post play Okofor is probably a more dominant player to build around.

Basically Towns is a great player but probably not someone you build your franchise around. Thats fine considering the Knicks will have Melo and X- allstar. Towns can just be a highly talented starter on a stacked team. Okofor is more of a build around piece where you could then make the decision to perhaps go after two very solid FAs that summer rather than 1.

Either way its alot of pressure to put on a rookie so maybe I talked myself back into towns. .......just choose the obvious better player. Okofor.

I'll have a better answer after tomorrow's Texas-KU game.

I haven't seen Okafor play but what I've seen in highlights and scout films shows that he has a great handle, solid passing, impressive athleticism and great size

could anyone give a scouting report / player comparison?

Is he comparable to Anthony Davis?

Anthony Davis is in a different stratosphere than EVERYONE defensively.

He's in SIX different stratospheres from Jahlil.

I was thinking on the offensive side

is Okafor a poor defender?

Okafor reminds me of Duncan, yea I said it.

Both have boring games when I watch them, but I think they are both high IQ basketball players.

Currently, I would classify him as a poor defender, but he has the potential to get better because of his length and strength.

Bad in pick and roll coverage and isn't always responsible on the help side.

But he is young, so he could certainly get better in those areas.

If we get a top 3 pick and the Spurs don't match a Max offer to Leonard, we could have 2 big building blocks. Competitive with any young duo -- might be better than Curry/Klay for instance.

Keep hope alive.

Karl towns jr could possibly be the more rewarding choice in the long run.

Jahlil is probably the safer choice and more NBA ready right out the gates

Both have potential but i think karl towns has the higher ceiling and can be a game changer on both ends of the floor.

Not sure who id go with i like em both

I agree, Okafor is the safer pick. Towns in the footage I've seen is he's a really good passer for a big man but still has some work to do. Okafor just looks more ready and I would love if we got lucky and got him.

Tank for Okafor?

You should suspend yourself for doing that to us. Oh the tease...Why oh why...

...we all know the Knicks will be in line for the first pick, only to end up with the 10th pick...

...and then we will max out Greg Monroe...

...Ugh.

Give me the guy who can dominate in the post, while being a great and smart passer...but I also want someone who is an above average defender or better...on pnr, help, man, etc.

Finally.. something to be excited about. The Knicks actually have a chance at a high lottery pick, and both of these guys look like they can be great NBA players. You can't help but drool over the possibilities.

I don't watch much college basketball, so as usual, I'll be counting on RealGM to educated me throughout the year.

How about some info on that point guard people have been hyping?

Mudiay is in China for academic/hazy reasons. He's big and reminds people of D-Whistle when he played point. Lightning step but pass first to his core. Jumper needs work. Chatter is he could also be a giant plus defender.

Myles Turner, forward, Texas, 6-11/240
Turner is the best player to step foot on the Texas campus since Kevin Durant seven years ago. We should find out a lot more about Turner on Friday when No. 6 Texas pays a visit to No. 1 Kentucky and its ultra-talented and deep front line. But the early returns on the freshman forward have been promising. He's an athletic big man with the ability to shoot from the perimeter and affect the game defensively with his shot-blocking. Turner is averaging 12.1 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.3 blocks through Texas' first seven games. He is also shooting 36 percent from three-point range and 83 percent from the foul line.

This will be Turner's only season at Texas. If he continues to develop at his current pace, he absolutely could end up being a top-five pick. Turner is an athletic big man capable of dominating on both ends of the floor. Those are attributes that Hinkie values tremendously.
