Re: 2014 Lakers Trade Ideas thread | The Resurrection!
In all honesty, I thought Kobe was going to choke Nick Young too... But I think Kobe is just dying for someone else to be aggressive. I think Lance, as long as he didn't think he was better than Kobe, could fit with Kobe.
He'd also be able to lighten some of the perimeter D load for the team.

Maybe playing with Kobe for a couple years would pull his head out... And Vonleh could pair nicely with Randle for the future.
It's risky all around, but that's what tank years are for.
Love that idea, seems like no risk for us. Worst case scenario Stephenson unravels and aids the tank. Is vonleh already considered a bust? Why would they move the #9 pick so soon for some expirings? There was no one higher on hill than me last year. But I'm coming to realize that he is meant to come off the bench vs back up bigs. He has no back to the basket game, is now in love with an unreliable jumper, and simply can't guard the likes of gasols, zbo, lma, Davis, cousins, Duncan, or even howard straight up. Coming off the bench against reserves however, he is elite.

PG seems like he could be even better than Kobe... IMO.

Its not just about aggressiveness. Nick Young while an idiot is still a positive personality and someone who keeps the locker room atmosphere light, just stays positive and cheerful.
Lance on the other hand is a cancer as they call them. This passage from Lowe's article today explains it all:
Stephenson is an easy scapegoat, and that’s partly his own doing. His body language has been horrible, and that degrades morale. He pouts when he doesn’t get the ball on the weak side, flapping his wings and looking skyward as if his teammates have wronged him. He steals rebounds, and he hot dogs with the ball at times.
http://grantland.com/the-triangle/charl ... ht-fix-it/
I'd hate to have that crap in my locker room unless the talent level is high enough to justify it. Lance is just not that good for the baggage he carries.

I don't know if it's just a front or not, but they're saying he's a long way from contributing... They're hinting he may not work out...
The way I see it, they're going to have to give up something to get rid of Lance at this point. But they'll get a lot of financial flexibility with that deal too.

Re: 2014 Lakers Trade Ideas thread | The Resurrection!
Looking at your proposal Kilroy, according to Lowe, Charlotte is looking to upgrade at PF and wing.
So in this move, they'd get to dump Stephenson's salary for Nash's and an established PF (Hill) for the rookie (Vonleh)...
If they did pull the trigger, I think they'd have a glaring weakness at the wing, something they wanted to upgrade. It's a shame X isn't healthy and playing, because he might have been an ideal throw-in to a deal like this...but say they were still tempted...I wonder if:
Kemba
Gary Neal
Gerald Henderson
Hill
Big Al
If that would solve their spacing issues at all. Looks like they signed Marvin Williams as a stretch four, but he's not a good enough 3 point shooter. I wonder if Hill is the right fit with his 17 footer....
Anyone have stats on Hill's effectiveness? I wonder what other teams perceive his value to be? Because the premise of this trade rests on Hill's desirability and their need to dump Stephenson.

Re: 2014 Lakers Trade Ideas thread | The Resurrection!
Hill's value is probably still as a hustle player... Not sure he's really that guy anymore, but he's done well with his mid range finally, so hopefully he'd fit.
I think Hill next to Big Al would be a pretty impressive pairing in the East. And with Stephenson gone and Neal getting more burn, who knows... Maybe the wing problem would solve it's self.
But I think a team looking to move a player like Stephenson, understands that they probably aren't going to solve all their problems with a single trade. So I'd expect them to have a few moves lined up.

Looks like the Suns are playing better with Isaiah Thomas out with an "injury." Its just too many pg's to get the right chemistry. You think the Lakers would have an interest in IT? If so, for what?

I knew the first instant I saw him in the suns that he's a terrible fit. He stops the ball, hijacks possessions and works against everything Hornsceck preaches. Great player ht he doesn't fit the mold that Bledsoe and Dragic create.
As for the lakers, no interest at all. He'd have taken less to sign here, big lakers fan as a kid but kupchak never even considered him or Lowry and didn't return their agents calls either, which is strange considering how much we lack talent.

If reports are accurate, it is correct that we didn't have interest in Thomas but we did contact Lowry but had to wait for Melo.
DIon Waiters is available. Is he a good enough get maybe for Hill? Maybe with a draft pick (theirs)? Thoughts?

We asked for Dion Waiters last season for Pau and they refused. I think they want a proper rim protecting big, may be a 2nd tier center like Koufos, I don't think we can get him for Jordan Hill and I frankly wouldn't do that trade for the Lakers either.

I'm not proposing it since I don't know enough of Waiters' game to form an educated opinion, but circumstances from last year's Pau offer to this year is very different. They are on win now mode and are fitting puzzle pieces rather than compiling talent. Competing teams sometimes trade better talent for role players just because they think the move can get them over the top. Then again, Jordan Hill may not be what they are looking for.
However, we may be able to strike a deal like this later in the season involving Jordan Hill or maybe even Jeremy Lin.

May be but I don't see them being interested in either. Lin won't be much use to them, they are even playing Irving off the ball and they likely want to keep a slot open for Ray Allen. Hill, may be an option of they don't find anyone else before that but think of Waiters as Swaggy P with a terrible attitude.

Sorry when I mentioned that we may be able to strike a deal like this on my second paragraph... I meant in general, trading one of our role players for a player with potential on a competing team who may not fit. Not specifically the Cavs scenario.
And before anyone comments on "role players", I know all our players (except Kobe) are role players.

best way to get any value is to accept salary, like a 2-3 year contract from a team looking to clear space.

Lin+Nash+filler for Deron Williams+filler. I'm to lazy to mess around with salaries but I pretty sure something along with lines would suffice. I have no interest in iso-Joe or glass body Lopez.
