Re: GSW Owner goes in on Mark Jackson
Lacob is a great owner. I remember watching preseason games when Klay was drafted and you could just tell the way he talked he loves basketball. He reminds me more of a Cuban type owner, who actually knows what good NBA players are. If any of the real GS fans listened to him talk, no way in 100 years would they take Mark Jackson's side over the owners. Anybody still supporting Jackson knows nothing about basketball. Its obvious from the way they played last year he was bringing GS down. He has 2 of the best shooters in the league, and they still had horrible ball movement and forced Curry to take way too many isos.

Dang, just found out about this; it's too bad, two of my fav players back then; probably jealousy from Jackson.
Thanks for the honesty.MorbidHEAT wrote:My dislike for Lin started during Linsanity. It was absurd. It's probably irrational dislike at this point, but man he gets on my nerves. He's been tearing us up though.

Unless you're bringing 3 peats and creating dynasties, no front office should ever put up with a coach that can't bring themselves to use jerry west as a tool instead of alienating him.

Towards the end of his time with the team, the public eventually came to know that Jackson had conflicts with the ownership and was burning bridges every chance he could. Towards the end the only people who were good with Jackson were the players.
I'm glad that Jackson imbued the team with a defensive mindset before he left, but I'm glad he's gone after finding out all the odd trouble he was causing behind the scenes.
How does what happened behind the scenes affect you man? Everything we have heard as well comes from ownerships side. Like every tale via media..nobody knows what really happened.
It wasn't just one or two media sources reporting this. Evidence that Jackson was running things behind he scenes his own shady way came from multiple sources and none of it was refuted. If someone is accused of being in conflict with dozens of people/a whole organization, and not one person from that side come out to defend Jackson from such allegations it speaks for itself.
That's the thing.. Everybody on the ownership side seems to unanimously carry the same opinion of Jackson. Only the players were his allies at the end. Imagine how bad things must be behind closed doors if all your bosses want to fire you even when the team is performing well. It just doesn't add up for Jackson.

I said this in the wiretap thread; I'll repost here.
Frankly, I suspect that the prickliness between Jackson and GSW brass was either started or exacerbated by his public statements about his religious views on homosexuality, etc. I'm sure that didn't go over too well with Welts, who arrived in GS *after* they hired Jackson (Jackson was hired in June, Welts joined up in September). My guess is that the brass realized that Jackson was a poor fit for their organization, and for the progressive Bay area. Jackson was on thin ice and, but for the team's strong on-court performance, would've probably been fired sooner. Once they reached a point where the remainder of Jackson's contract was an acceptable loss, I figure they were prepared to fire him unless he won a championship.

I would have thought it was more of an issue that Mark Jackson used to leave practices half way through and leave the players to themselves, whilst he jumps on a plane to LA so he can give a sermon at his church.
I would think a coach treating his basketball job as his secondary job to being a pastor is more of an issue when you are paying the guy millions every year.

Wasn't the owner all about saying no to the Love trade? obviously he's high on Klay and for good reason.

How did warriors fans/front office/whoever not realize Jackson was a goon from day 1?

Hey, most of the Warrior fans you see cheering at the arena these days are the same people who booed Lacob off the floor during Mullin's jersey retirement right after they traded Monta.
Lol, I forgot about that. Turned out to be a **** fantastic move. Shows how much fans know.
As for Jackson, he's always been an a-hole. Nothing new here.

It's worse than Hiring Reggie Miller would be. I always assumed he was only on broadcasts so there would be a casual fan type voice for people to relate to.

Actually, it was Kerr and Jerry West He's the guy who convinced them to draft Klay in the first place.
The continuity has certainly helped.

That's a major statement to make. Whoever these 200 people are the owner is speaking on their behalf. It's stupid for him to speak like that. I am sure Jackson had some enemies but saying a number like that basically means almost the whole organization which may not be the case.
It's just best not say stuff like that. Just my $0.02.
This is not news though to most Dubs fans who since at least half way through last year started hearing things about Jackson and it became clear the the FO were going to get rid of him. Most of these have have been confirmed by those around the club... Lacob is just the latest.
I have absolutely no doubt that nearly everyone in the Warriors office despised Jackson. Jim Barnett retired from commentating after 30 years basically because of Jackson... and then once Jackson was sacked amazingly reversed his decision. Scalabrine despised Jackson. Erman recorded his conversations because he didn't trust him as far as he could spit. Jackson banned the logo Jerry West... and in fact he banned everyone from attending training.
Jackson basically built a culture where the players and himself were all best buddies and anyone outside of that... including the FO staff and everyone from the cleaner to the owners were against them.... and more importantly against him. That's what cult leaders do.
I understand this but generally when it comes to this type of drama and in-fighting most organizations keep the information on the inside and even if it leaks they dismiss it. I believe that when the owner himself throws the former coach under the bus (whether it's warranted or not) it may be viewed poorly by others who may reconsider joining that organization in the future.
A lot of sports organizations experience similar or worst kind of issues, but usually they don't try to discuss externally like the way the Warriors owner did. It's fine that he fired a coach he believed was not good for his team, but don't need to spill the details to the outside.

Also, Jackson's right hand man at the church he is the pastor of turned out to be a drug kingpin. The Warriors at the time chose to look the other way so as not to put any heat on Jackson:
http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... ISpTsnEdI0
Jackson readily acknowledged to the San Francisco Chronicle that he is close to Warren Braithwaite, who was arrested in Arizona in June and charged with heading a ring that was attempting to distribute 10,000 pounds of marijuana. Braithwaite has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
.
.
.
In his story, Chronicle reporter Rusty Simmons wrote that: "When Jackson walks down the center aisle of the church to take the pulpit on Sundays, Braithwaite flanks him like a secret service agent. When Jackson was introduced to the Bay Area at his first news conference as the Warriors' coach, Braithwaite was his guest."
Suffice to say that there were plenty of shady things about Jackson, who will always hide behind his cover as a church pastor. As was mentioned, there's probably a lot of reasons he was traded around 7 times during a 16 year career.
Lacob probably didn't even talk about half the reasons he got rid of Jackson. The thing about Welts being a gay VP while Jackson has openly opposed the gay lifestyle is mostly likely way down on the list of reasons he was shown the door. There were several much larger issues about Jackson's character and inability to get along with anyone in the organization besides a certain number of players.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?
Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Re: GSW Owner goes in on Mark Jackson
Lacob has now apologized for those comments, reports Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group.
“I have a tremendous amount of respect for Mark Jackson and what he accomplished as our head coach,” Lacob said. “He did a terrific job. I’ve said that many times over the last several months and in recent days, including at this week’s event. I was asked to draw comparisons earlier this week between building businesses in the tech world and the sports world, and unfortunately, I used some poor judgment. That’s my mistake. I did attempt to reach out to Mark on Friday, and I certainly apologize for comments and any unintended harm. I know that Mark will succeed again in this business.”
I hope Mark still responds publically, would love to hear his thoughts.

LOL @ Lacob way to keep it classy......He already fired the man now trying to ridicule and sour his name wow.....we all know why Mark Jackson got fired and none of it is for basketball reasons for real. We all know Mark Jackson is a ordained minister who is homophobic Team President and CEO Welts (openly gay man) and Lacob wanted him gone since then.....This is character assassination 101

LOL I know you aren't happy to hear your Brooklyn hero is nothing short of a ****... but facts are facts. Had little to do with his religion or his thoughts on gays (Although it didn't help).
It is to do with his lack of coaching ability which most Dubs fans would admit was severely lacking... and almost an entire organisation (200 people) that despised working with Jackson.
I mean read this from Jim Barnett...
http://bluemanhoop.com/2014/05/16/jim-b ... k-jackson/
Golden State Warriors color commentator Jim Barnett appeared on KNBR Friday morning to discuss the latest happenings around the team, including the Steve Kerr hiring, and of course, the Mark Jackson firing.
In his interview with the “Murph and Mac” show, Barnett said that he supported the coaching change, and revealed that he was never able to attend practice.
“I never was able to go to a practice,” he said (transcript via Bay Area Sports Guy). “We were banned from practice that way. We weren’t part of the group. I always felt like it was Mark Jackson against the world. It was us against them and he had that kind of philosophy. And therefore, I don’t know Mark Jackson any better today than I knew him three years ago.”
Barnett is one of the nicest guys you'd meet and a true gentleman... I couldn't see him saying a bad word about anyone... yet he spills the beans as well on what it was like working with Mark Jackson for 3 years.
Why is it I haven't heard 1 person come forward to say everything Barnett, Scalabrine, Lacob etc is just made up. Instead it is the opposite.
Must just be 1 big conspiracy against Mark Jackson... just like how all of Utah hated him for doing the same thing. That must be made up too

Out of the 50+ reasons Lacob had to fire Jackson, Welts being an openly gay man was probably at the very bottom of that list, if it was even on the list at all.
In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if Jackson got another short lived coaching job in an Avery Johnson/Mike Brown type of way.
