Even Dirk has an odd windup if not a hitch. Gary Payton too.

And Tim Hardaway (Senior).

Yup, he used to duck his head on his jumpshot every time. I hated it.

Don't get me wrong I feel Towns will work wonders down the road, but I don't feel NY would be patient enough for him with that win now mentality. We should trade down to like 5th if we receive top 3. We can get more from it by trading for someone that can help, like a JR/Okaror for T.Young/Stanley Johnson (just an example) or JR/Okafor for S&T Rondo/Stanley Johnson.

Rondo
Shump
Johnson
Melo
Hibbert

Now that would be a nice defense!

NO! That kind of thinking in the bold is what got us into this mess in the first place. If Towns is available to us then you take him and put in the necessary 2 years to develop him. Let him play the Camby energizer role off the bench in year one and prepare to start him some time in year two. Other than getting stronger I don't think he is that far away from contributing to be honest.

Believe me when I say Towns is the player I want and I myself I am patient enough, but after being a Knicks fan for over 30 years I can say I know our fans.

Well that's true, just look at this board who are already talking about firing Phil and Fish. I think Towns could handle the pressure, there's just something about him that makes me think he could thrive here.

okafor is just a post scorer, he has no jumper and doesn't like guarding the perimeter

towns can score inside, outside, and runs well in transition

oh and he's a 7 footer

Even if Towns only developed into a shot blocker that can hit open shots I still would be happy with that. With that said, he has potential to be our Pau Gasol.

that P&R defense is awful! he needs to fix that asap.

I love the kids offensive ability but work on that D man!

I feel you, but I'm of the belief that big men either have defensive instincts or they don't.

I think even if we have the first selection we have to go Towns. Just look at the video of him matching up against Anthony Davis. We desperately need someone like this. A 7-footer who can stretch the floor, play the 4 and 5, pass the ball (which he excels at) and play defense. One thing that I also really like is that not only is he a talented basketball player, but he's an overall great kid and everyone loves being around him. Watch him get better and better as the season goes on.

From what I've seen.. Okafor is a solid one of one post defender, but yeah his help defense and defensive awareness overall needs work. I'd still take him over towns tho. I just can't pass up on this guy if he's available to us.

Okafor with his size, strength, agility, and skill could easily be the top center in the East. The kid is like 19 yrs old.

What I like the most is Okafor has tree trunks for legs. The kid is going to be a problem down low.

That's always a possibility, but outside of injury or him losing interest in basketball in a Bargnani type of fashion, I am not sure how that could happen. Aside from his physical tools/skills, he seems to have a high I.Q. for a young player, said to be hardworking according to the Kentucky coaching staff, and he seems to have heart/mental toughness. Against Texas, I saw him take a hard fall after getting fouled while attempting a dunk, he fell so hard it look like he could have had a serious career ending injury, but he got up to not only make both free throws but the first possession he got the ball back he went right back to work in the post to score off a hook shot. That to me shows toughness and heart. When you combine that with his offensive skills, defensive skills, rebounding, versatility, size, and athleticism I would be extremely surprised to see him be a bust. The only things i really see missing are strength and experience really. If Phil could develop Bynum, I can't wait to see what he can do with this kid.
