Bills Post Game

Post#1 » by Mags FTW » Sun Dec 14, 2014 9:20 pm

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and be "that play call guy". Lacy averaged 6.5 yards a carry and only rushed 15 times. Rodgers was off all day and threw it 47 times. I called for more short stuff at around halftime and when we dinked and dunked with Cobb we went right down the field before stalling in the red zone. Wasted game by the D. Loss is on McCarthy. Fire Slocum already.

On the bright side we still control our own destiny for the #2 seed.

On the dark side Seattle just won the NFC.

I'm not saying the D played well by any means, but they held them to 4 FG's. Wouldn't look anywhere the D for the reason for this lose.

I have nothing positive to say about our team today. When we needed huge plays to make up for our best player having the worst game of his career, no one stepped up (with the possible exception of Eddie Lacy, who was held down by the lack of carries). Aaron won't be able to carry us in every game. We have had a horrendous number of long returns and blocked field goals. I don't know how Slocum has a job.

No, I agree. It was a wasted solid performance by the D.

Loss is on Offense & Special teams. Rodgers, Nelson & McCarthy are the main culprits.

what scares me most about this loss is that Bill D is like a poor man's version of SEA with the ability to get pressure rushing 4 and drop 7 each time. no blitzing.

this is the recipe for disaster with our offense and Mccarthy hasn't found a way to out scheme this.

Losing this we probably won't get first round bye now. having to go on the road to SEA we are clear dogs. having seen our offense play against D's like SEA, SF, bills, NYG from a few years ago there is no reason to logically think we will beat SEA in SEA

The Bills have the best front 4 in the league, bar none, and got 0 pressure on Rodgers until our starting right tackle went out. Their front 4 is not "Seattle Light".

Exactly. Even beating SEA at Lambeau is debatable. Nothing suggests an ability to beat them on the road

Worth repeating: in consecutive weeks, the Bills have held Peyton Manning & Aaron Rodgers under 200 yards, without a TD & force total 4 INT.

Does anyone have any idea why the clock kept running wh3n our receivers went out of bounds with 7 minutes and 6:30 ish left? We didn't deserve to win but I'm pretty sure a minute of game time was lost due to some home cooking.

i wouldn't say they get 0 pressure on rodgers. rodgers only sacked once, but he seemed to be on the move in the pocket quite a bit.

it's the philosophy though, rushing 4 and dropping 7 without having to blitz is what SEA, SF, bills, NYG have used to great effect vs our offense and we haven't been able to adapt to it. You think their front 4 is better than DET? either way its comparable, we need to figure something out against this defensive scheme

a quick google search

"For years, the NFL has restarted the clock after the ball carrier has gone out of bounds, except in the final two minutes of the first half, the final five minutes of the fourth quarter, and in the regular season, the final five minutes of overtime."

All I'm saying is that even though they did it to Manning last week... Manning will win MVP over Rodgers now. For some reason.

Things I take from this game:

1. According to the game thread we no longer have a chance to win the Super Bowl.
2. Rodgers now apparently has no chance to win MVP... even though he will still have the best numbers out of any QB in the NFL this year after this week.

Both of these things suck to hear. Might as well just pack it in this year. Start losing games to try to get a higher draft pick, IMO. Beyond that though:

3. This is the worst game I have ever seen Rodgers play.
4. Even when Rodgers hit guys, they couldn't catch the ball. Nelson also had a pretty horrible game, as did a majority of our receiving core.
5. Our offensive line played very well... so did our backs. If we are going to beat teams with big time front 4's they need to continue to do that.
6. Our defense played pretty damn good. Tackling was horrendous in the second half.
7. Special Teams was just a total nightmare today.

I still think we are one of the elite teams in the league with the best player in the league... we just happened to play awful today (and we shockingly still had a chance to win). Starting next week we need to build momentum and start playing our best ball heading into the playoffs.

I will also add... hopefully Baluga isn't out long. Tretter seems like a good C prospect. Not sure I want him playing RT.

The offense and special teams were horrendous today but I am going to put a tiny, tiny bit of blame on the defense. All the broken tackles led to at least one FG, the wide open 40 yard pass to Brown where Shields was inexplicably blitzing from almost the sideline with nobody picking up Brown in coverage as well.

Obviously the offense and special teams is where 99.9% of the blame belongs but the defense had a couple of **** ups that led to points as well.
