I like Desmond but he is one of the most aggravating players in the league. He hits for fantastic power but doesn't get on base at all and strikes out way too much. He's going to get PAID and I just don't see how we can pay him when we have to pay guys like Harper, Strasburg, Zimmermann, and eventually Rendon. What makes Desi so good is his power for a SS but he'll be 30 soon and if his power drops, his value plummets.

Where are you hearing trading to a division rival though? All I see are trade rumors with the Mariners. I trust Rizzo to get a good deal. He always makes good deals when it comes to trades.

my fault, i looked up top and blew threw the title.

read Mariners as Marlins

that would be an awesome deal for the Mariners

Would you honestly want to keep Ryan Zimmerman over Desmond? Even with all of Zimm's injuries and inability to stay on the field? I know Desmond has some aggravating tendencies but at least he's a more reliable player to be there everyday than Zimm is.

So is San Francisco looking to add starting pitching?

The Dodgers offered Matt Kemp to the D-Backs for AJ Pollack
The Dbacks counter offer with Archie Bradley for Kemp.
Dodgers rejected it.

both teams know something about Archie we must not know.

still yielding to the OG Lord Friedman and Zaidi.

That's just stupid to trade one of your 12 outfielders for another outfielder.

I just don't trust that report.

I'm not sure of the timeline. Did it happen during the winter meetings?

We had a deal in place…Ethier for Montero..
So maybe Kemp for Pollack might have been insurance for dealing Joc to Philly for Hamels.

there probably was a deal to send Joc in a package for a greater haul if we were to get the CF from the 'Zona. now that deal has fell through, the situation has changed. the greatest thing about our front office now is that the guys are fluid. they are always prepared for option A to Z.

BTW i just wanted to share that our middle infield, went from -3.5 of Gordon and -15.6 UZR/150 of Ramirez, which combined to be -19.1, to +6.7 Kendrick and +3.9 of Rollins, which adds up to +10.3 UZR/150.

we just upgraded our middle of the infield defense by +25.9 UZR/150.
ehhhhh f it.

Now it's all up to the on-field chemistry between Rollins and Kendrick. It's been a decade since Kendrick has turned two consistently with someone other than Aybar. They were like peanut butter and jelly out there.

well judging by the fact that Kershaw has as ground ball ratio of 51.8%, Greinke with 48.7%, and Ryu with 47.4%, I think we can benefit immensely from having a pair of former all-star vets in the middle of the infield who can actually play defense.

their chemistry should have no issues but if they ever do, it should be fixed in the spring training and no later than pass May.
ehhhhh f it.

I honestly have no idea what the Giants are doing right now, sadly. There's a reason why they missed the playoffs after they won in 2010 and 2012. They have no reliable starting pitching other than Bum, their 8th inning/former closer is probably gone to another team and they have no LF or 3B.

Random…

anybody think the Royals should have just re-signed Billy Butler given what they gave Kendrys Morales?

We're not even two months from winning the world series and skaterpants already hates the Giants.

The team has said that Arias will definitely not start at third on opening day. So that means they're going to trade for or sign a third baseman in some form. I get the impression that LF is a little less important for them. If they can't get anyone, Pagan should move to left and Blanco to center.

On pitching, they realize it's a need. They went hard after Lester and they're going to go hard after Shields. There doesn't appear to be any interest in Scherzer. They kicked appropriate tire on Santana, but nothing serious. I've read about interest in Hamels, but they don't have the pieces to give up like some other teams do.

They're looking.

CJ Wilson. You guys like him? I don't think his value is next to nothing right now, but I know he wouldn't require as much in return as a year ago.

I haven't heard or read his name being mentioned, but if they finished second for Shields, I'm sure Sabes will be looking for a trade on that level.

Management has already said that Tim will be in the rotation.

So it's

Bum
Cain
Hudson
Lincecum
(Blank)

with Petit filling in

for the Royals, every penny matters. 12.5 million dollar option of Billy versus 8.5 mil per year of Morales was unfortunately, a no brainer for the small market Royals.
