Following a workman-like Sunday early evening effort versus the Utah Jazz, YOUR Washington Wizards continue their tour of the Western Division's bottom dwellers with a match-up against the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves.

The T-Wolves feature 2014's #1 pick in the NBA Draft, SF Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins, originally drafted #1 by the Cleveland Cavaliers, landed in Minnesota as part of a three-team, multiple player deal that saw PF Kevin Love depart for Cleveland and SF/PF Thaddeus Young also arrive into Minnesota. SG/SF Shabazz Muhammad has played well in recent games coming off of the bench. The physical second year player notched 28 points and 9 boards on Sunday in a 100-94 loss to the L.A. Lakers.

YOUR Washington Wizards have found improved fortunes that have coincided with PG John Wall's dedication to play Gary Payton-like defense. Wall has size and quickness and has held some of the leagues best point guards in check. The Wizards are among the leaders in 3-point shooting thanks to the eagle-eye of SG Bradley Beal, SF Paul Pierce and reserve SG/SF Rasual "hi Toronto!" Butler. Wizards head coach Randy Wittman has seemingly settled on a bench mob rotation that includes PF Nene (battling foot issues), C Kevin Seraphin, PG Andre Miller, and SF Otto Porter.

Let's meet the starting lineups.

YOUR Washington Wizards hold a 5-1 record against the Western Conference, albeit against some of its lesser teams. Last year's Wizards would have played down to its opponents and a game like this would be one they'd lose in disappointing fashion. But this year is a new year and the reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Week, PG John Wall is playing like he's on fire. Can Wall and this year's Wizards take care of business before an upcoming Friday night match-up in South Beach?

Their starting five is dreadful, this game should be a blowout.

I predict sloppy 1st half and much better 2nd.

True enough; he's doing a lot of good things -- rebounds well on the offensive side, shoots well, and gets to the line a lot. And he's not making a lot of mistakes that jump out at you: doesn't foul much or turn the ball over. If he could make his FTs (and why isn't he making them?), he'd be even better.

Unfortunately he is under the Flip regime. I don't know if Corey Brewer is really the role model you want for him either. Not that Brewer is a bad guy, but just a role player. Also, I know Shabazz had his faults but I kind of get the idea lots of people were rooting for him to fail.

Dieng is also nice. They may have the most athletic wings in the NBA.

After a quality win versus the squad from Lob City, can YOUR Washington Wizards avoid a letdown against the struggling Jazz? All the ingredients are present - come off of a big win, opponent coming in with a losing reord, early start time on a Sunday.

You might want to edit this. :)

Damn on me.

:nonono:

I was really being lazy and cut/pasted the darn template from last game.

Sigh. Going back into the first post in this thread to change reality.

Take to woodshed and move on. What I really want is to tap that Miami @$$ on Friday.

From the outside looking in, I think his biggest problem is that Flip Saunders is his coach

Muhammad is putting up 23 points, 7 rebounds per -36 minutes. PER of 21 so far.

For whatever reason Saunders only plays him 18 minutes a game.

An advance look at a couple of Miami Heat Dancers -- Wizards are in South Beach on Friday night.

Apparently, Heat Dancer Brittany is $6.00. Posted with no other comment.

On another note, for a draft class touted to be one of the deepest in years, it's been pretty much drek. Wiggins and Parker seem somewhat solid but not the franchise "allstars" they were hyped to be. Marcus smart looks decent...everybody else....meh.

Hoping Wiggins & Bennett have good games against the Wiz. but you will win never the less.
They will be a very good team in a couple years as they get older one of the best things is Kevin Martins injury ( not wishing him hurt) allows the young players lots of minutes.
Side note: shame injury to Parker

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

It would be nice (though admittedly not as nice as the Heat dancers above) to give Flip a serious shellacking tonight,

I really didn't like him when he was here... From the antiquated long two based offense, to his frequent heaves of his players under the bus, he was hard to root for. EJ and Witt both have their flaws, but they are clearly decent people in the tradition of Abe.

Brewer is good. If we can stop him from being disruptive and close out on the three point line we should be good.
