Re: Official John Wall Appreciation Thread 2.0
I've been a little quiet on the boards lately, but I've watched 90% of the games this year, for once (thanks to an unnamed streaming site!!). When the Wizards landed the #1 pick, I was so excited to see John Wall in the phone booth. Like pretty much everyone else who follows basketball, I had been mesmerized by his high school highlights. Really enjoyed watching him grow, even on the struggling teams. Just saw flashes of what could be.
But I never considered him for either the "Favorite player ever" or "Favorite active player" slots in my mind - just seemed too front-runnerish. His play this season has forced me to put him in both categories by a landslide. I've just experienced SO much joy from watching him fly around the court, entirely in control. What a breakout year. The stats don't tell half the story (though they're fantastic). The way he impacts games is absolutely insane. 100% dictates the flow every minute he's on the court, even when he's playing defense.
For a lot of people this seems like a bandwagon or obvious Wizards fan statement. For me, someone who tries to pick out underdogs and unsung heroes, it means a bit more: John Wall is officially my favorite basketball player of all time. Sorry Juan Dixon.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

He had been a great player to watch from day one. We have gotten to ride a lot of lows and some highs with him. But now this feels like it's time we experience something special that not too many basketball followers get to experience. A leader and one of the games best players being a one team players and being a genuine "franchise" player.

Remember when there were people arguing that Rubio was better than Wall?
Glad that argument is over.

Is it really? We all know the culprit(s) will never let it go.

Isiah Thomas has no love for Wall.
Has 6 point guards ahead, including Irving.

I'm lobbying for my wife to cancel our Christmas day tradition of a mid day oyster feast with extended redneck family whose ugly racist side rages at the mere mention of basketball.
"But MSG." No.
"But this could be John's big league-wide-recognition game." No.
"I'll buy our own oysters." No.
"Road trip! I'll buy tickets!" No.
"But the commercial..." No.
... dangit.

I'd love to hear RG3 come close to that - before he leaves the Skins.

After his red hot first 5-6 games he's been pretty bad from distance and from the field in general. He's been one of those odd players this year (like Tyreke Evans) who has pretty drastic home/away splits, but in his case he's been much better on the road in approximately an equal amount of games (11 road/12 home).

Yeah, I thought he was headed to the All-Star game after those first 5 or 6 games. I'm just guessing here, but my hunch is he's played too many minutes - he's at 38 a game but he's played over 40 minutes in a lot of games.

The Rox are running him ragged out there. They want him to defend the best player on the opposing team and score points.
The John Wall effect, however, is not happening in Houston.
