Spencer Hawes Out for the Season?

Post#1 » by Ranma » Wed Dec 17, 2014 6:11 pm

With the organization's track record of not being upfront about player injuries and ESPN's credibility (lack thereof), it's a matter of who do we distrust less in this matter?

Should have signed a real small forward with that $ or even a solid back up 3 like Vince Carter. Oh well! Too late now.

Didn't Grant Hill have a bone bruise with us? Same with Trey Thompkins? Both were out a long time but not the season.

Grant hill was ancient and had a history of serious injuries. Hawes is young and will heal fine.

Sadly all the SF's we would want, Ariza, Deng, took a bit more than the MLE that we had. Pierce was a possibility, but his dilly dallying and waiting for Brooklyn killed that option. Vince is struggling so far, 34/32/67 and only 9 FTA the whole season.

It wasn't a summer of plentiful options in regards to that for the Clippers

strong feeling that this post is going to get ignored and a week or 2 from now, someone is going to make the same post about how we should have signed an SF.

you could say i'm getting a good feel for how things work around RealGM

Vince is turning it on like he did last season. He is a slow starter.

I understand the options were limited, but I'm frustrated with the lack of improvement at this position. Even keeping Dudley would have been better than what they've got now. I like Turk at the 3 on offense, but he can't really guard anybody no matter who position.

if hawes was out for season, aren't we entitled to an injury exception? (or whatever it is called) if there was a way to compensate for the loss of a player I don't believe for a second that Steve Ballmers ran clippers would try to hide a season ending injury and not get a player of the similar value obtained.
ehhhhh f it.

Just reading through all this, I didn't think Hawes' injury was that serious. I figured that he would be out for a bit, but not for the whole season. If we want to improve our roster we'll need to make a trade. Hopefully there is someone out there that can be aquired to improve our roster.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

The disabled player exceptions can be tricky. They're worth about half of the contract of the injured player and can only be used to acquire players for only one season (i.e. sign player to one year deal or trade/waiver claim of player in final year of contract). Then there's the fact that we have a hard cap, which we're pressed up against at the moment.

Make sure that whenever you say "bone bruises" with respect to an injured Clipper, you make the air quotes gesture with your fingers. As in:

Spencer Hawes is not seriously injured, he's got..."bone bruises".
