Jose, Larkin for Gordon, Ridnour
Magic get a nice vet point guard who will be a good mentor for Payton, and eventually a quality backup for him when Payton is ready to start. Jose will find the open man and provide some much needed spacing in the backcourt as they chase a playoff spot. They get a look at a young point guard in Larkin too who starred at Miami.
Vucevic/O'Quinn/Dedmon
Frye/Nicholson/Gordon(inj)
Harris/Harkless
Oladipo/Fournier/Marble/Green
Jose/Payton/Larkin
Knicks save some future money and gain ground on Philly's Tank.

Orlando easily says no. Not taking on the $7.5 mil+ Calderon for the next two years. Ben Gordon is only guaranteed for this year, so Orlando has plenty of cap space to shop with this summer. No reason to eat into our cap space to chase the 8th playoff spot.

On the other hand, Orlando would still have a ton of cap space... and it's not like they're realistically going to sign a big-time free agent, are they? They'll match whatever Harris gets offered, and still have cap space after that.
Calderon does provide a nice veteran shooter in the backcourt.
I'm not saying they should do it, but the "our cap space!" argument probably isn't the reason they shouldn't.

why cant or wont Orlando sign a big-time FA? they have done so many times in the past. Magic owner hasnt been known to be cheap and not spend money on players.
