How high a 2015 pick would you need for Drummond, if any?

Post#1 » by Laimbeer » Fri Dec 19, 2014 4:05 pm

Would you trade Drummond for a 2015 pick, and how high would it have to be?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I'd trade 1 year of Drummond on a rookie deal for 4 years of Okafor on a rookie deal. I don't know enough about any of the other prospects.

People's fascination with trading or in Monroe's case giving away the few bits of actual talent on this roster is so confusing.

So keep staying in the lottery to develop a rookie. Then trade him for the next big thing. The circle of real GM life.

No but hypothetically speaking it would have to be for Okafor only for me.

Maybe, not sure yet. If I was going to it would have to be for #1.

Wouldn't trade him for anyone in this draft.

I wouldn't trade him for any draft pick. Sure, one of those guys might turn out to be better, but why risk it?

Nope. I'm not enamored with Drummond, like some.

But, I haven't seen any potential pick that looks like a franchise changing talent.

The idea is to add more talent, not get rid of it.

Whatever pick gets Okafor, no one else is of interest in this draft. Okafor is the only one who I can see approaching Drummond's impact.

can't see Okafor being better than Andre

Top 6. 7-10 if a team includes their back-up Center.

I wouldn't trade him for a draft pick at this point. Okafor is a real prospect, but pretty much all the scouting reports suggest limitations at the next level due to his "lack of athleticism." It is noted he has problems finishing over length. He sounds like he might have some of the same issues as Greg Monroe. The NBA is going to be a lot tougher than college. Players on rookie contracts can be nice, but winning teams generally aren't based upon such players. It all sounds like taking another step back to me.

The better question is how can we trade Monroe to get the pick we use on Okafor!

I f dre can become a good defender, which should be no problem with a big athletic center like dre and with a coach like stan.So we should have a center real close to a ben wallace clone, which sounds GREAT to me.You dont trade him period....Even if he turns into a chandler or a jordan,I will be more than happy with that.
