Let all the families populate the rest of the arena. Just give the supporters a section behind the basket. You'd get the atmosphere you want but without "little Billy" or "grandpa Jack" getting their view obstructed or their ears hurt.

Sens are doing that this year. Tickets are only 25$ for the entire section.

Ya that's the problem. $25 is not enough revenue for MLSE. They can sell those seats at an average way higher than that. For the Sens $25 is good enough.

And the younger demographic that would actually be willing to chant won't pay $80 a game or whatever.

Maybe just the upper bowl behind the basket could go for $25+ and you'd have a decent section. At least something 10x better than anywhere in the NBA.

Thing is MLSE will say why would we sell seats for cheaper than market value when the atmosphere is already one of the best in the NBA. I think the upper corner would be a good place to do it as those are the worst seats and you wouldn't be obstructing anyone's view. Its difficult to do though cuz you will have people buy those seats to re-sell them at a higher price to make money.

That is awesome... Doing bus trips like that was something I thought of organizing after the Philly series...back in 2001.

Not only am I happy to see it actually occurring, But the fact the GM has travelled with the fans?? awesome.

Air Canada would be smart to offer a "team flight" to destinations it flies to for games.

Well as far as the atmosphere goes. The NBA average is probably a 2 out of 10. The Raptors are probably a 3 out of 10.

A small supporters section would probably bring it up to about a 6 out of 10.

This is of course using European football or basketball atmospheres as a comparable. Which anyone that has experienced it can tell you it's so much better than an NBA game.

I really do like the idea of a supporters' section just because it creates more of an identity and culture for the team. More brand unity with the consumer. More appeal. It's one of the few authentic parts of a team that will last forever (if you look at the ancient chants in Europe).

That's the main appeal for me.

That is awesome.

Masai is really a tremendous fit for our city and our team.

I imagine if BC agreed to do this, he'd show up beside the fan bus with a true trust-fund kid limo bus for him and his Italian cronies. They'd drive 30km ahead of the fan bus and would begrudgingly pose for a quickie shot with the fans before rushing into the talent entrance.

Just reminds you how much difference a person who worked for it at the helm is over someone who was handed it from Daddy.

Well that's a silly comparable, because we don't live in Europe and the Raptors don't play soccer.

I think the relevant scale is against other local pro sports teams, and the rankings are as follow:

Bills in Buffalo
Raptors
TFC
Jays
Rock
Argos
Toronto Roller Derby

Leafs

Bills in Toronto

It was awesome when Bogut was on the Bucks and bought seasons tickets for a huge block of seats and then held try-outs to find fans who would be the loudest/craziest/most creative etc.

We can never compare to European fans. We don't even average one death a game.
