Re: Trade for Rondo? How much would the Rockets have to give
I'm a Celtics fan and regardless of what you gave up for Rondo, he'd make your team insanely better regardless of his poor shooting/free throws.
Why?
1) He's an offensive threat in the sense that he break down pretty much any defender and penetrate similarly to Harden.
Having Rondo consistently doing that will create so much space for Harden and so much space for any three point shooters you have out there- Rondo is the KING at getting his team mates specific shots in their hotspots.
2) His pick and roll game with Howard. Rondo would get Howard an extra 4-6 points per game from very high percentage shots. This isn't Jeremy Lin here- this is the guy that made Shaq at age 37 look like he was 27 again.
He will find Howard easy looks in situations where the other Rockets can't.
You want DMo or Jones to improve their stretch PF game? He will find them on dribble penetration and they will get plenty of practice at that wide open jumpshot.
He'll improve your fast break and he's a terrific rebounder, who will find your shooters in transition.
But mainly he'll take so much attention away from Dwight and Harden on offense that your two superstars will improve their shooting % significantly because he will make defenses collapse from dribble penetration.

One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Sorry but his shooting is a serious liability in late game situations, especially with Howard still on the roster. Pass.robbie84 wrote:I'm a Celtics fan and regardless of what you gave up for Rondo, he'd make your team insanely better regardless of his poor shooting/free throws.

Now about Dragic.....

So he's going to Dallas.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Re: Trade for Rondo? How much would the Rockets have to give
For like two years on the trade board I've laughed at Boston fan turn down any trade made by none rocket fans and this the best they get.
Seen t-Jone or Motie plus a rocket first and pel first also the salary fillers. Seen some include kostas. All turned down because it was hot garbage. This is just to funny and so great.

I think that we forced Dallas to pay more than they wanted. Won't be surprised to see a "thank you" follow up deal

Re: Trade for Rondo? How much would the Rockets have to give
It is difficult to believe the Rockets could not put together a better deal than Dallas did for Rondo.
I have watched most of his games in his career and his game has flaws. See this piece: http://basketball.realgm.com/article/23 ... ndo-In-Tow
But he is the best passing player in the game today and nobody else is 2nd or 3rd or 4th. Everyone else is listed in "also receiving votes." He also elevates his game sharply in the playoffs and against great competition. You guys would have been the favorites to win it all.
Houston goes into the playoffs and every other team in the west now has a stud point guard. You have a peashooter.
Looks to me like Daryl Morey's losing streak from the summer has continued through the year. Too bad. Ainge is close to Morey and McHale so I have no idea what could have happened.

Obviously Morey didn't want him.

Re: Trade for Rondo? How much would the Rockets have to give
Thank god we didn't get Rondo. Looking at that dreadful Dallas package, we could've easily won the bid. Just the pelican pick alone trumps cubans offer.
I dont believe Morey was ever serious about Rondo. There is just no conceivable way to make him work with this team. Rondo's lack of range is a major liability.
Eric Bledsoe, or Dragic are more appealing targets.

Re: Trade for Rondo? How much would the Rockets have to give
i wonder how parsons feel now
he thought he could be the #2 guy behind nowitzki in dallas
turn out he's only the 3rd just like in rockets
and now with additional of rondo
he's the 4th guy

Re: Trade for Rondo? How much would the Rockets have to give
yeah poor chandler. he was the 2nd option in dallas, now with rondo on the team he'll be bumped back to the 4th option. might even be a 6th man. at the end of this season he may lose it and become too fat for small forward, which means he'd be their backup center at 6'9 290lbs

what a turnaround. from 2nd round scrub to role player to the white lebron james to dallas' poster boy to the white glen davis
