Stockton and Malone times... they played pretty well.

I wish the answer would have been - Raul Lopez.

You know... Raúl was great, but not in the NBA... Stockton-Malone-Hornacek fighting vs Bulls was more inspiring... altough they lost.

haha, I can imagine.

my comment was meant to be in a tongue-in-cheek manner.

Worse, he takes the last active roster spot, so we can't even play Vonleh in blowout situations.

Maybe we dump Maxiell before January 10 (when his contract becomes guaranteed) and then start activating Vonleh.

way late to the thread, but a few thoughts

- hairston just might be one of those players who doesnt respond well to coming in cold off the bench. not all shooters can stay warm after sitting on the bench for 30 minutes after shoot-around. however, he doesnt defend at a level warranting him to start. perhaps the coaching staff needs to make an effort to call a play for hairston as soon as he comes in the game that gets him a shot closer to the basket to try to get him warmed up.

- what does it say about vonleh that taylor, who hasnt played in a year, coming off a major injury, missed all of training camp and a month of practices, who is dealing with a huge media circus and wasnt all that great to begin with is active ahead of vonleh?

- 24 point lead with 3 mins in 3rd gets all the way down to single digits in the early 4th. we will never know what would have happened if jefferson didnt get hurt.

- where the hell was cody? why is he getting benched in the 4th quarters recently? i thought he was really good last night.

- what is it about December that makes kemba play so well? seems like it is a yearly occurrence.

- two games w/out lance, two easy double-digit wins. i'm not ready to read much into it just yet, but the ball movement looked better last night than it has most of the season.

- best game by MKG since his first two. that is encouraging. but why the hell does he have so many WTF moments - getting balls knocked out of his hands, falling down on drives, dribbling ball off foot. his defense on hayward was beautiful.

It's a career occurrence.

In December he averages 20 points on 45.1% shooting.

Next highest point total is February at 16.1

Next highest FG% is January at 41.7%.

March is his worst month at 14.6 points on 37.5% shooting. He shoots the same in November and April as well.

Odd Stat of the day:

His best day of the week shooting is Tuesday by a fair margin (43.7%). his worst by far is Thursday at 33.9%.

He is a lot better on 2 days rest, averaging 18.9 points on 42.4% shooting. By far his highest.

I really came to just post December and then got in a rabbit hole on his other splits. Sorry for that.

I do wonder if they'll take that approach and the one JDR mentioned of shifting Marvin to SF if Vonleh shows promise. That turns our size issue into a strength for the second unit, though would add to the PT crunch for our wings when Lance gets back.

Just out of curiosity, how do you think he would use that information?

The month to month stuff isn't particulary useful other than his tendency to start seasons off slow, the Tuesday bit could be really useful though I think. It may say something to his week to week routine that could be tweaked to help him play better on those days.

So other than December, Walker has generally struggled.

Interesting.

just watched the game. we gave up so many open threes, yet it didn't matter since they couldn't hit them. 5/15 from the corners were Utah. fifteen corner threes in one game is A LOT.

feels like we finally get to play against some teams against which we can screw up and not lose.

I remember when Enes used to dominate us. It seemed like he took too many jumpers last night.

I think that was only one time and came in a blow-out against our 7-56 Tankcats.

He missed training camp with an injury. Our coach claims he is not ready to see serious floor time in the NBA, and that may be true. We haven't seen him in anything but a few garbage minutes against scrubs playing lackluster defense. (Where his offense looked surprisingly fluid for a 19yr-old 7-footer, for what it's worth)

I'm skeptical of coach Clifford's claim that he can't play any productive minutes, as are many people on this board. Personally I'd like to see Vonleh out there for 5 minutes or so when the opportunity presents itself (foul trouble to Zeller or Marvin, an injury, etc) just to see how he responds in a situation where the game is still undecided. Right now those rare minutes go to Jason Maxiell. I think Vonleh can have a bright future, but at this point it's completely impossible to say definitively whether he'll pan out or be a total bust. Until he sees minutes in serious game action he's a lotto-pick mystery guy on the end of our bench.

Yeah, perhaps Clifford is playing guys like Maxiell because he trusts them more ad I guess he is trying to win games right now which is going to come as a primary goal ahead of developing Noah.
