He's a year and a half away from being a restricted free agent, so probably.

Do we take a chance on Lance Stephenson, if given the opportunity to absorb his contract with the Rondo TPE?

Nah, hes not worth it. Our locker room seems stable at ghe moment, i have a feeling they will be further banded together by the Rondo trade, its not worth the risk.
If he was currently playing like Jimmy Butler then maybe but hes headed more towards a poor mans Josh Smith.
You dont go through such a methodical rebuild to introduce a known cancer.
In saying that i loved watching him play at Indiana - those ECF v the heat were awesome but yeah - not on the Cs!

You have to get in on that Stephenson mess. He can be had for peanuts.

If Ainge was after him like rumored in the offseason, you'd have to believe he's calling daily.

I'd consider it for Bradley, because while both are overpaid, The Lance is a better player, the same age, and has more upside to turn into a star. Maybe he self-implodes but Stevens is a great coach IMO and I think he'd get the most out of The Lance.

Is impossible, even if boston give a clippers round I think is also impossible. And If charlotte say yes, hasn't sense for boston because loses a active for one player who will not be a starter with good performance. In rebuild boston only should give assets for important player with future, stephenson isn't this type of player, he is a crazy guy with bad attitude.

It's a pretty interesting idea. I know a bunch of the Suns fans are always trying to come up with trades for an athletic center who can score. He might fit the bill.

Can't find them now but there were a bunch of quotes from Dragic that made it sound like he was really ready to hit the FA trail hard. Stuff about how anyone in the NBA would want to play with Kobe, and how NY and LA could turn it all around next year.

But other stuff I've read says Dragic is the one they want to keep, so maybe Thomas is available. And if not for this season maybe as a sign and trade in the summer.

Green x schroder, bazemore, brand, jenkins, swap round 2015 (BKN) with sixers round (31)

Bass + wright + boston second round 2015 x perkins + first round top22-23 protected.

Wright for Thomas would be huge- Thomas is relatively cheap, under contract, extremely useful, fits well with Bradley and Smart. Would put a huge twist on the Rondo trade. Would even add Jeff Green if we can get some other assets back from PHO...

Green/Wright for Thomas/Tucker. Who says no? ....I don't think Wright re signs here. But I think Ainge would love to keep him around considering how much he has been talking about rim protection.

Just trade Wright for Thomas straight up, if we combine Wright with other players we'd have to wait until February 17th.

Though it may be better to wait till February 17th when our record is worse, cause Thomas is capable of going off winning games for us.

I'd still try and pull off a trade sooner rather than later.

im not sure Phx does that trade straight up. Thomas is still a bargain and Wright is still a backup.

How's that work with Smart long term? Is Thomas your starter and Smart backing up or vice versa? Or is Smart splitting time between the 1 and 2?

I like Isaiah Thomas, but always thought he was going to get overpaid, but his new contract is reasonable. I feel like there are other positions I'd rather address than bringing in a PG, but I could come around to the idea.

I don't know.

I love Smart and he brings a ton when he's on the court, but I don't like him as the primary ball handler and we all know how limited Bradley is with the ball in his hands.

I don't see the need to start Smart. He can still get 30 minutes/game off the bench with his ability to play up to 3 positions.

I just think IT would blend well with Bradley and Smart and provide a nice contrast. He's having another strong season...

He's locked in at a very affordable $7mill for the next 4 years and is having another strong season. At 25 years old he's averaging 16 points and 4 assists in only 24 minutes a game. He's also doing it very efficiently shooting 44% overall and 39% from 3pt with a TS% of 59 and a PER of 21.6 (both the latter career highs). He also gets to the line over 5 times a game (24th in NBA).

Another note i discussed over on CelticsBlog,

Wright is going to get paid this summer. If he puts up anything near the kind of advanced stats in Boston he did in Dallas, he'll be looking for $8-10mill annually and somebody will give it to him. Mark my words.

I have zero interest in getting in that bidding war, therefor id be shopping Wright aggressively and hope Ainge flips him before the deadline. The guy seems to have real value too so maybe we can actually get something besides a late pick.
