I'd rather have Bledsoe and Len at half Carmelo's salary. I think all of us would.
Honestly, i dont know. Im rather torn.
Melo is a star. He is the lone bight light on a s**t Knicks team. He is the type of guy that draws other players to a team (Vets), which we would need to help us attract a decent C. Look what happens to s**t teams when they get a star. It transforms the League. No one wanted to be a Clipper, but once CP3 was on board, everyone wanted to join. Rockets were headed downhill fast, but they traded for Harden, and he helped them Howard, now they both have made Houston a destination. Big named players help attract other big name players, its a fact.
Thomas/Dragic/Tucker/Melo/?????
I prefer to trade Dragic over Bledsoe, but if it had to be Bledsoe, i still might do it.
The last 5 games Melo is averaging 28 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals. Thats against some of the Easts top teams too (TorontoX2/Chicago/Dallas/Us). He also has been playing some great defense as well. As for the trade that Aldridge posted, he said that Bledsoe/Green/Len works FINANCIALLY. It doesnt mean thats what we would HAVE to give up. Bledose/Green/Toliver also work Financially as well. This trade gives them a young stud PG and a clean slate to start over. With Amare and Bargnani coming off the books, they would free up a TON of capspace to start a new and Jackson could go after players that would really fit his Triangle System.
As for us, it is a bit of a financial hit, but remember that the TV money will come into effect soon (Experts predict after next season), so in 2018 when Melo is supposed to be making $27M, it wont look nearly as bad as it does now.
