His on-the-ball defense is solid. He's probably the best on-the-ball perimeter defender we have. Kevin Love is worst pick-and-roll defender in the league and other teams know it. He actually ends up setting a secondary screen on his own player. Whether it's Dion, Kyrie, or any other guard, other teams are just going right at Love in the pick and roll.
Love has been even worse on defense than advertised, which is kind of incredible. As far as Waiters, it is just picking out which poor return we want at this point--but this is going to be another 2014 trade we will regret IMO

If we can't get Bradley or MKG, I really don't have much interest in trading him.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

C's fan here- mixed opinions about Waiters on our board, and about what to give up for him.. Add a Bass/Thompson swap to that deal and I'd do it..

TT for Bass would be tough for the Cavs because TT is playing better right now and right now is really what matters for the Cavs. I also question why it would be of great value to the Celtics as you have two young PFs and TT is about to get paid.

If I were you I'd be going hard after a center, even a clown like McGee.

Re: Trade Waiters or keep him?
Cavs dont need any clowns nor do they need to trade Dion. Having Love and lebron is at some point gonna force Kyrie to pick up his floor game and once he does that . The Waiters/Irving combo with some consistent defensive effort is a deadly pair.
Love still needs to learn to set up in the paint without the ball and I believe that is a reason why BLatt has been sure that lebron is on the floor with him most of the time because James will reward Love in those situations.
as the Cavs evolve into more of ball movement team Waiters value and playtime will pick up. We already are seeing signs of this coming together

Re: Trade Waiters or keep him?
Yeah, I agree Dion's talented, and Love probably needs to learn some new habits after he got to do what he wanted in Minnesota. But even if it all comes together, Dion is still the guy who's obviously superfluous, and you can get more for him (a center?) if his value goes up. I wouldn't trade Dion for Mcgee, but Haywood/Bogans/TPE for a guy like Javale who can block shots and run the break- it wouldn't hurt.
