I will give him a slight yes.

His career is similar to Alex English, very smooth player that put up great stats, but never really had much success in the playoffs.

Difference is that English was much more efficient, frequently shooting around 50% from the field. Carmelo is a better long range shooter though.

Hall of fame player, but not even close to a first ballot.

His years in Syracuse help a lot.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

Year not years. He was a one and done. But I said before he led Syracuse to a championship which is big. I believe it was Syracuse's first title.

Carmelo is one of the most hated players arround here since his rookie year... and i still wonder why :)

Yeah, he will be a first ballot HoF when he retires, being a top 10 all time scorer.

Ok, most people blame him for not being as good as LeBron or as Lucky as Wade (not like Wade does not deserve the rings he has, but he had some help from his front office and landed in a miles better run franchise), but Melo is having a really good career, he led the nuggets to playoffs in the freaking west every single season, and in NY he found himself surrounded by one of the most disfuntional and stupid ownerships of the whole league, and i still think the knicks will turn it arround next year when phil has had a year to work, and he's still "young" at 31.

So yeah, he will be obviously a HoF, and yeah, he's not as good as people expected (unreallistically imho) him to be, and yeah! he makes a ton of money, good for him.

Because he underachieves alot especially since running away
from Denver.

He is Lebron James without the heart it takes to win it all
like Lebron has.

He has the talent just not the will to win.

Have you looked at the rosters in NY? hell last year the 2nd best player on his team was JR Smith, the same JR Smith that was not even in his top 3 teammates his entire time in Denver.

I do not love nor hate Carmelo, but let's be real here the only time he has missed the playoffs to this point in his career was a combination of injuries and a terrible front office, he was not the reason they missed the playoffs last year, and will not be the reason this year.

hell go look at some of the teams he carried to the playoffs in Denver, the 1 year he had a healthy team around him the Nuggets went to the Western Conference finals. Melo was not on Lebron's level, but Melo still gets unfairly blamed for many issues while many people ignore the rosters he had around him and what he did on those teams despite those rosters, and while in Denver he was doing it in the Western Conference.

Put together his college career and International play with his pro career and I do not see how they can keep Melo out of the hall of fame.

Of Course Melo going to the HOF....there is gonna some over analyzing to make a case why he shouldn't but just take a breath and think how many were seriously better than Melo been a Top 10 player the last 7 years...Plus already eclipsing 20,000pts so Melo is lock for sure

I think the opposite. If anything one could say he's underachieved in Denver, not the Knicks. I think slit of times people forget that what Melo has gone through in NY would be the equivalent of Love going to Cleveland and watching LeBron get hurt for three straight years except people expect the same results. LeBron in this case being Amare. And I know the follow up to that is the trade but If Melo was a liked player we would've all understood the circumstances involved and also thought the Knicks had plenty of time and opportunities to backfill since the trade and squandered it.

At the end of the day teams trade young talent and picks for stars all the time. And the risk of doing that is made easier when you also have another max player in Amare to pair that traded player with. It's not like we did the trade and for the last four years we've watched Carmel and Amare fail. What we've watched is Carmelo fail alone with Amare injured. He's been injured so long that is as if the general population has somehow forgotten that he's even there. But guess what? He is and he's taking up a larger piece of the pie than Anthony's had.

So when people focus on the trade its crazy to me because Id do the trade 100x over. It's Amare's signing, or Knicks failure to amnesty him that I wish I could do over.

Forget my opinion. Just you guys. If you were in charge of the Knicks and had Melo, use your imagination and just imagine the amount of possibilities you could put together if poof, Amare and his contract weren't like a ball and chain on your cap. Then consider that in spite of that, Melo has brought the Knicks to the playoffs 3 of 4 years with one of them holding the second best record in the East. I'm not saying Melo is without flaw but I don't think he's failed the Knicks so much as the Knicks fail the stars they acquire

Well he'll probably end up in the top 10 is scoring if he maintains this pace for a couple more years so it's going to be pretty hard for him to not get in.

If you have any perspective of who is in the HOF and what is the criteria then the entire premise of this thread is laughable.
