Clippers-Raptors Game Thread

Post#2 » by Quake Griffin » Sat Dec 27, 2014 8:47 pm

noon start today guys.

really good PG matchup.
Valenciunas is gonna give DeAndre a piece of his mind as well.

a win here would be great for the start of our home stand.

so far looks like theres a lid on the rim for CP like the beginning of the Warriors game.

CP vs KL should be a good matchup. Hopefully Raps come out on top despite the slow start. It's easy to tell that our guys are scared of DJ, though.

Shots and Boards

Post#6 » by Ranma » Sat Dec 27, 2014 8:58 pm

Not only are the Clips shooting like ish (33.3% FG), they're getting out-rebounded by a significant margin, 14 to 9.

p.s. I saw that charge off the fastbreak coming from BG the moment he passed halfcourt. Dude should learn to walk-and-chew-gum by putting on the brakes off the pass as he wasn't going that fast to begin with.

reform the charge call.

I can only assume the charge call was made so people wouldn't get ran over by the offensive player to make a layup.

I can't imagine whoever invented the charge call intended for people to stand there after someone passes the ball off and fall on their back after contact while screaming.

it is what it is. It's the charge call we have now….so you're right….but it vexes me to watch that in any nba game.

Recognized but Not Implemented

Post#8 » by Ranma » Sat Dec 27, 2014 9:09 pm

Let me get something straight. If Doc is saying things like, "whenever Blake rebounds, we're tough to beat" and "we're more dangerous when CP is more aggressive on offense", then why don't our two best players consistently do those things?

Dan Woike noted a few days ago that Reggie has been more active and effective on defense so I guess he's been showing improvement in practice to the point where he's moved ahead of CDR on the depth chart.

Is the home crowd always this bad? I've heard more noise during a funeral.

Doc said he was going to switch things up with the 2nd unit. I guess one of those things was giving CDR's minutes to Reggie.

my honest/ bro science opinion?
People can put away the 2011 joke that the Clippers have bandwagon fans.

The Clippers are just good enough at this point for Laker fans to buy up their tickets and sell them out EVERY NIGHT.

who knows.
but Ive went to a couple playoff games where I thought the atmosphere was electric….a sea of red…loud as hell (imo at staples)….then ill look at part of the game on DVR and it just isn't close to OKC, GSW etc. etc.

but take this for example:
I'm the only Clipper fan in my family and we have season tickets (go figure…but theyre cheaper).
When I go…I'm nuts. I'm cheering loud. I'm cursing. I'm THEE best fan. When my brother uses the tickets, he goes and sits, has a beer and enjoys the game in a calm manner (cuz he's a Laker fan). yes, he's at the game today btw.

hope that may help put it in perspective for you and isn't tl;dr

The saddest part is that the few Raptors fans in the arena are 10x louder than everyone else combined lol.

It's the acoustics ;-)

2 things. It's an early game. The other is that it's LA. STAPLES can be rocking at times, but that's not consistent. Some teams around the league have great fan participation regardless of if it's a playoff game or a preseason game. It's just more spotty here for us.

teams from big cities or regions with a huge following always pack out the Staples Center. Big cities = a lot of fans who will move for school or work.

Celtics
Bulls
Warriors

always come out and take over our home crowd…

Doesn't bother me as long as people stop saying we have bandwagon fans.
we don't. I see this team as building our fan base by being attractive to kids ages 7-13.

Here's Chris and Blake complaining about Chicago fans taking over the crowd when the Bulls won here a month ago.
